True Collectors Quality Condition CARVER C-500 250wpc @ 8ohm 450wpc @ 4ohmin showroom condition would have to rank in the top 5% for physical condition however amplifier is in protection, When I purchased this from the original; owner I was told it did not work, took it home and checked the fuses and the secondary 5a positive supply fuse above the transformer closest to the heat sink was blown. Pulled up the service manual from the Carver site and says will blow this fuse if output transistor is blown, a common situation with Phase Linear amplifiers and believe these may have been one of the first offering Bob Carver put out there after selling Phase to Pioneer. The service manual also mentions overdriving the amplifier well into distortion can cause this however knowing the 83-year-old gentleman that purchased this new I feel 99.9% sure he had never railed this amplifier .....ever. I have included a picture of that portion of the service manual for you to see exact what it details about the fuses. I have never attempted to pass a signal through this amplifier have powered it up to see what I would get and shows its in protection. have included a picture of that as well. This currently has the issue described and needs service I cannot accept returns for parts or repair units due to buyers getting into them attempting to service them with zero skills, catastrophically smoking them and returning for their money back. We have for sale a paper original factory service manual for a Carver TX-2. Generally clean unless noted otherwise. Please read below for details: We are selling off service manuals from our old shop and that of another friendly competitor from the area. These were both very active repair shops in their day and the manuals got used! We will try to point out any flaws we spot other than ones visible in the pictures. There is often writing in the manuals but generally it is helpful service information to help fix a quirky problem a technician encountered while working on the unit. When it says service notes on back page or see bulletins on the front cover it doesnt necessarily mean they are in this manual! Often the bulletins were kept elsewhere in the shop. PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS MANUAL IS AN EXACT MATCH TO THE COMPONENT YOU HAVE! Sometimes manufacturers will have more than one product out with similar but not identical circuitry, If youre unsure please ask questions first.
