This is an older Bottlehead preamp with all the upgrades at the time. It has dual volume controls and a selector switch for 3 RCA inputs. There is also two sets of RCA outputs. The upgrades provide voltage regulation for the tubes and give a wider bandwidth and quieter background. This is a great sounding start into tubes. Enjoy.

I have had this and two others on my bench and have been tweaking and listening to them for some time now. The collector that owned these (now deceased) was good at collecting but was not suited for DIY projects (he was not the original owner and did not assemble this.) I found a pair of Mullard tubes in my tube collection and they seem to be just right for this unit. One tube is marked Mullard and the other is marked “Heath by Mullard”. Hum/noise is low and the sound is forceful and detailed (to my ears anyway!) It is cosmetically very nice in a DIY sort of way. This unit was built in Jan 2024, so basically new. I put maybe 20 hours on it and sounds fantastic. I really liked the way the red mahogany stain and hammered black paint came out. You are looking at a PAIR OF MONO TUBE AMPS without tubes. I put a yellow label on amp #2. Amp #1 has no label. I bought these at an estate auction planning to use them myself. I am at a point in life where I have more projects than I can ever complete. I decided to part with these as I realized I do not have the skill needed to positively identify their circuitry and operation. Thanks to some very helpful FB friends some basic info was found. It appears these use the same ctrcuit as the now discontinued Bottlehead Paramour amp that used a 4-pin 2A3 tube and likely a 9-pin 12AX7. I was able to confirm this thanks to an online album published at Wardswebs Bottlehead Paramour Build. (https://www.wardsweb.org/audio/paramours/build/build.html). While the circuitry and appearance are like the Paramours, I do not think these were actual Bottlehead kits because of slight layout differences. I suspect they are high quality copies. The parts all to be of very good quality. The amps use silicon diodes as rectifiers. The caps are from France and Denmark. The power transformer is from Canada and the output transformer is from Taiwan. Sockets and other hardware are good quality too.The chassis plate is finished in an attractive paint and the base is solid wood with a urethane type finish. The amp plates are receeded into the case but are not yet attached to the bases. These may need nothing more than tubes but I cannot vouch for that. I warrant these amps to be as described when you receive them. There is no additional warranty. Check my feedback. I describe accurately, pack safely, and ship quickly.

This is a DIY amplifier assembled by me. This is my 3rd project of this kind, but I am not an electrician. I have been using this amplifier for over a year with no issues. HOWEVER, it is possible things can come loose or go wrong during shipping. You MUST therefor perform all the safety checks with a digital multi-meter that can be found in the assembly instructions on bottleheads website BEFORE powering on the amp. Includes the following tubes: Matsushita 12au7 - Very slight Hum at higher volume Mullard BVA 12AU7 ECC82 - Sounds Very clean Tung Sol 6AS7G - Has some slight noise in the right channel Tung Sol JAN CTL 5998 - Very slight hum at high volumes Mullard 6080 - Sounds Very clean The cleanest combo just on listening tests is the Mullard 12AU7 with the Mullard 6080, but other tubes are fun just to try something different.
