I hooked up the Amplifier Connections side and it sounded awesome, I could hear some subtle differences in tone when running the dial around. I didnt understand the Tape recorder connections protocol, so I can neither confirm or deny that they are functioning properly. There was audio but it was very faint... I have series VI but prefer the (in my opinion) somewhat warmer sound of series III and IV, and it made my series VI sound sweet). The story behind IV B is they only made a very limited number of them as Series IV was being replaced by Series V. I was able to find on line from Bose that the series IV eq supply was used up and they had to utilize series V chassis, parts and cases to make this eq to have the correct series III and IV curve. The best part of it was Bose began to make the equalizers so much better at this time (1983 for this one, the beginning of the series V era) with much better quality everything. It would be a challenge to find a nicer one that this, if you could find one at all! This has some insignificant marks on the case, stains on the box and is really very nice. It sounds warm and wonderful as it should. Don't miss it! Best one you’ll likely ever see!

This Bose 901 Equalizer is designed to work with the Bose Series 1 901 speakers. The speakers will not sound good without it.Simply connect the eq through the tape loop or pre-out / main-in on your amplifier or receiver. Or if you are using only a single source such as a turntable or CD player connect the eq between the receiver and the source component. Item light comes on but flickers.
