The plastic phase plug is then simply replaced with one of our high quality aluminum plugs. It is not for nothing that B&W uses aluminum phase plugs in the 805 Signature. Through the use of aluminum plugs, the frequency response, which is already very linear for simple plastic plugs, is jointly linearized and heat dissipation is maintained. Sound is further separated from the speakers, and further enhanced naturalness makes it even clearer and more accurate. Phase plugs prevent opposing diaphragms from cutting just as reliably. At the same time, when using aluminum plugs, better heat dissipation in the area of ??the pole core increases the load capacity and counteracts thermal changes in sound. The dynamic midrange driver works with particularly low distortion when a copper layer covers the inner pole of the magnet, while the aluminum phase plug provides dispersion of the higher frequencies. So only the right combination of materials does it. The technical explanation is trite: the combination of the two materials linearizes the inductance of the voice coil. This results in a dramatic reduction in distortion.

Tests good for sound and DC resistance. the dust cover is not centered in the cone. The previous owner appears to have glued it on off center after it fell off. B&W Bowers & Wilkins PM7 Speakers Pre-Production PM1 800 802 803 804 805D2 D3 D4. These are genuine B&W PM7 Pre-Production speakers from 2012. If you search on the internet, you will find no information on the PM7s as they never made the market. Based on the highly successful bookshelf PM1 speaker released in 2011. These floor standing versions are also finished in high gloss mocha veneer and soft touch as the PM1 was. I believe the reasons why the PM7 never made the market was the high cost to produce them, and with this in mind, the price point would have been close to the 804 D2 of the time, and possibly would have taken sales away from the 804. The listing shows the concept picture by Native design of the PM7 with a different stand, please note, at the time 700 S2 was not released so the PM series was going to be names 700 series S2. This concept picture is NOT INCLUDED. These are exceptionally rare, its believed B&W made 6x prototype units, and no more than 20 pre-production units. Some of these may have been destroyed by the company, which is common practice if a product doesnt go to market. This might be the only chance you get to own a pair of PM7. I do not have any access to any specification for the PM7, but they do share the same tweeter as the PM1. The bass and mid-range drivers are unique to this model as i guess the cross overs are. I have heard PM7s in action and they sound awesome. As like the PM1, you get a lot of sound from a small/slim unit. Condition wise, these have only been taken out of the box, they have never been used. The only issue i have found is some blemishes to the front of the cabinets in the soft touch finish (please see pictures). These may clean out, but I have not attempted this. The soft touch finush on the cabinets and components is not sticky to the touch in any area. As these are pre-production, there was no manual or accessory packs made/included and the outer carton is plain with no graphics, just the sample sticker. I have managed to make an accessory pack comprising of the spikes/rubber feet, jumper cables, foam port bungs and do have a pair of grilles. How did i get something so rare and unique? I used to work for Bowers & Wilkins and bought these from them 5 years ago. I have a receipt with proves i paid for these and wasnt just given them out the back door, as it might be suggested. Hello and welcome to my listing for my Bowers and Wilkins 804 D2 speakers in the amazing piano black finish. These speakers need no introduction, they are quite simply amazing. Providing they are paired with a high quality, powerful amplifier, they will reward you with a very large scale sound from their relatively slim, compact size. They also look absolutely beautiful, arguably better than the more industrial looking later versions. This particular pair are in very good condition with no marks or scratches that I can see. The drive units are in very good condition with no cracks, holes or dents. They are approx 10 years old so they arent brand now. Although they are a fingerprint magnet, it can be polished out to a mirror-like finish. I have not used any cleaning fluids or materials on them because I do not want to introduce any swirl marks or damage the finish. I have used these with both an Arcam and Mcintosh amplifier with great success, they sound really good. Sadly these need to go to help fund other priorities. The speakers have the boxes and packaging, port bungs, rubber feet and spikes. I used after market bi-wire links (not included) however i have misplaced the original bi wire links. The original ones arent the best so to get the best out of the speakers, I recomend you use after market ones anyway. Not sure if it fits 802 and 801. May fit but I think they have a different model number. Please do your own research.
