I am selling my beloved pair of Audio Research Classic 120 monoblocks. Introduced in 1990, the CL120 is a stunning ARC design. Each amplifier leisurely loafs along while the eight 6550 output tubes produce 110 watts per channel. With these amplifiers, there is no such thing as burning ones hands on the top plate. These tubes are able to run at milder temperatures. This is a very well cared for pair, and their condition is excellent. On one amplifier, you may perceive a very small ding in the metal faceplate right underneath the Line Fuse. Thats the only flaw I know of. If your eyes spot more, you have sharp vision! The power supply of each amplifier was rebuilt in 2017 at Classic Tube Audio in Portland, by the same gentleman who designed and built world-class Whammerdyne amplifiers. Those 6 large power supply capacitors you see in each amplifier are relatively young, not 30-year-old components going wildly out of spec. Concurrently he performed a number of checks and installed high-end ClarityCap capacitors in critical locations for the best sound the amplifiers are capable of producing. Looking at the underneath photo of one of the amps, you can see the Clarity MRs and CMRs that were installed. Additionally, the built-in power cords were removed and replaced with IEC plug receptacles so the audiophile may use what power cord they choose. A couple years ago, one amplifier suffered a blown charging resistor due to a tube that was drawing excessive current. This was also repaired (quite easily) at Classic Tube Audio, along with a better set of tubes. I am including all this paperwork along with the original Owners Manual. All can be seen in the last photo. Since the CL120 has screw-on terminals for speaker cable connection, I am willing to hand over to the buyer my pair of Audioquest Slate 6-foot speaker cables that are terminated on one end with thin spades for use with these amps. You may ask, if I love them so much (and I do), why am I listing them for sale? Pretty simple. Space, life simplification. I am not the first owner of this fine pair, but I have been very dedicated to their longevity and condition. I am willing to ship these, using UPS Ground. Jahrgang: Ab 1991 Seriennummer: 67337044 Zustand: Gebraucht, mit optisch feinsten Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Technisch ist das Gerät defekt. Ich bin der zweite Besitzer, der Vorbesitzer hat das Gerät vor etwa zehn Jahren revidieren lassen, bei dieser Revision wurden die Relais ersetzt, das Balance-Potentiometer überbrückt, und das Volume-Potentiometer gegen ein besseres von ALPS ausgetauscht. Der Besitzer besass eine Firma für Oberflächenveredelung, somit hat er die Frontplatte eloxiert, und dann graviert. Es handelt sich um die originale Front, nun einfach mit einer perfekten Gravur. Um den September 2023 begann ein Kanal merklich leiser zu spielen, und dann durch das Relais bei leisen Papieren teilweise aus zu setzen. Das Gerät ging dann in die Revision zum Techniker, wie meist sind diese massiv überlastet. Irgendwie hat er dann rein geguckt, jedoch wurde die Arbeit nicht fertiggestellt. Habe dann den Pre zu H-J. S. verfrachtet, welcher leider nicht mehr die Ressourcen hatte, somit habe ich die SP-9 zurück geholt. S. riet von einer Inbetriebnahme ohne vorhergehende Durchsicht ab. Da ich noch über weitere AR Preamps verfüge, lasse ich es somit nun bleiben. Der Verkauf erfolgt als zu 100% DEFEKT. Sonstiges: Sehr viele Informationen zu diesem Weltklasse - Vorverstärker finden sich auf dem WWW. For sale is one Audio Research SP-8 stereo tube preamplifier in excellent condition that sounds fantastic. It comes with the optional Audio Research WC-4 wood case which is hard to find. If you’re a vinyl enthusiast, the SP-8 has an outstanding phono sage. This is a classic high-end tube preamp from the 1980s that is still very highly regarded by audiophiles for its clarity and sound purity. It has inputs for Phono, Tape, Tuner, Aux 1, Aux 2. Tubes used: Five 12AX7s, two 6DJ8/6922s, one 12BH7. All tubes in the preamp are American-made and test good on a calibrated Bitmatic mutual conductance tube tester (computerized 118/B Cardmatic). Controls and sockets have been cleaned, and it works perfectly. See photos of flyer for comprehensive specs. This is an awesome tube preamp that sounds fantastic. DESCRIPTION This Audio Research Classic 30 was recently given a clean bill of health and a new set of tubes from George Meyer AV in Los Angeles CA. It has one small blemish just to the lower left corner of the AR name plate on the front.  Item will be shipped with tubes installed (unless requested otherwise) in original box and packaging. ABOUT It's tempting to regard the Classic 30 as merely the smaller sibling of the Classic 60 and 150. But the skeptical music lover or audiophile who auditions the Classic 30 is in for quite a shock. Because this little hybrid stereo amplifier - rated at 30 watts per channel packs a sonic authority and eloquent musical veracity that larger, more conventional power amplifiers might envy. Our engineers have discovered that sometimes less is very definitely more. Of course. the Classic 30 features almost all the same technology as its bigger brothers, scaled down for more modest applications. It has four 6550s instead of eight, two 6FQ7 driver tubes instead of four, and no fans because it runs remarkably cool without any help whatsoever. But this smaller design still retains a similar degree of exceptional musical resolution. This listing is for a very good condition Audio Research Classic 60 tube amplifier. Included is the amplifier, tube cage, all tubes, power cord and the original box. The cosmetic condition is very good indeed and one of the best you will find for a Classic 60. The Philips 6550 output tubes tested at 95% across all 8 tubes and the bias was just checked and set at the recommended 65ma. The amplifier works 100% as it should and does sound great. We will wrap each tube individually and also double box and insure the amplifier to assure safe arrival. As with all vintage electronics, no warranty is included or implied. That being said, you can rest assured that the amplifier is in excellent condition and working great. The shipping charge is for the actual courier shipping charge.
