This one is a true Gem and pretty close to pristine ! This beauty is from a one owner, no pet and no smoking household with very little use! The amp is just back from Avatar Engineering where it has been refurbished a $1200 service! The service included all new audiophile electrolytic capacitors ( see photos) along with polypropylene bypass caps and ultra fast recovery rectification. Mylar driver capacitors were replaced with audio grade polypropelene film capacitors. Key resistors were replaced with NOS Allen Bradley, Kiwame, Takman , and ultra quite/ precision Vishay film and foil .01 % units!Zener diodes were upgraded with Mil-Spec replacements. the incandescent lamps were also replaced with LED lamps. Minimale Ausstattung, einziger Luxus ist eine einfache Programmierfunktion. Am Gerät selbst gibt es lediglich einen großen Taster mit zwei Befehlen - Play/Pause und Schublade öffnen. Here’s a nice Audio Research Foundation Series VT80 amp, originally in silver, now in black. I also have what I believe are some original silver trim pieces. When I got this unit I got in touch with ARC and I ordered the optional tube cage for it along with a new “Certified Matched” tube set featuring the SE-spec KT150 tubes. In the two years since, I’ve put just 57.9 Hours on that factory tube set. As you may know, the early units were sold as VT80 with KT120 tubes (as this one probably was). Soon after launch, they went to the larger KT150 tubes and with that change alone, these units became VT80SE tube amps. There was no other difference between VT80 or VT80SE. The SE came by virtue of a simple tube change alone. Audio Research Ref 75 Stereo Tube Power Amplifier – MINT Condition. The amplifier is very clean and in MINT Condition – has no scratches or dings. The connecting signal wires between the balanced connections and the board were upgraded to solid core pure silver with untreated cotton dielectric sleeves. Tubes have appr. 1000 hrs and still sound phenomenal. The amplifier comes with original power cord, manual, bias tool, original screwdriver and white gloves. Also included are the original ARC signal wires that were replaced. The amplifier will ship in its original double-boxed packaging.
