This listing is for an Audio Research D-115 tube stereo power amplifier in non-working condition, for parts or possible restoration project. I am helping a friend sell this as it was owned by his brother who recently passed. It has been in storage for sometime and is dirty and will require a thorough cleaning. My observation is one of the power tubes is bad, as shown in the photos, the other 7 look to be in remarkably good condition. They are Svetlana Electric made in Russia. The smaller tubes are Electro-harmonix made in Russia, and several USA tubes, 1 tube is missiing. The circuit boards are dirty, but I see no broken boards or damage. The tube cage or chassis cover is missing. I understand that this is one of the more powerful vintage tube amplifiers ever made by Audio Research. This amp is also very heavy and is being offered to the buyer for free local pickup, and is recommended if you live near me in Severna Park, MD (just south of Baltimore). Shipping will be through UPS Ground Services or FedEx Ground Services, insurance can be arranged through them if desired. International shipping can be arranged through eBays International service. I have never used that service, but I understand it is quite reliable, buyer will have to research rates through eBay. I have owned several ARC amps and the REF150SE is truly a stunning piece. This amp was purchased from John at The Audio Salon in the Biltmore Hotel in South Florida. The tubes included are the original tubes that came with the amp from Audio Research. There are 2519 hours on the tubes. KT150 tubes are quoted by ARC as being good for a minimum of 3000 hours and 6h30 tubes at 4000 hrs. The amp still sounds pristine! The unit is absolutely flawless in performance and is, with the caveat below, an absolutely stunning example. *NOTE: This amp is listed as NEAR MINT and the only thing preventing it from being MINT is shown in the picture with the blue circles around the three specs on the top edge of the faceplate (see pic for details). Owners tip: When checking the bias/voltage for each tube, there is a set of terminals used to check each individual output tube with voltmeter probes. There is one set of terminals that requires you to move the probes around slightly more than the others to make good contact and get a proper reading. A note with a picture showing the location of the terminals is included for your convenience. Enjoy! REFERENCE 150 SE Simply put, the REF150 SE is a breakthrough in stereo power amplification. Replacing the REF150—which was one of the most respected modern stereo amplifiers—was a daunting task, but it has been accomplished. The REF150 SE offers more power, greater dynamic thrust, a more vivid and resolved presentation, greater finesse, and quieter operation. It is the new benchmark. Having identical outer dimensions as its predecessor, the REF150 SE has much more packed into its chassis. Bass extension, harmonic delineation and speaker driver control are the best ever to come from an Audio Research tube amplifier, regardless of power output – and that is saying something. Selling my Audio Research VS-115 power amplifier for Repair. V8 had a tube arc and will need to be replaced at a minimum along with a few resistors that protect the amp. The 6H30’s are newer, but I recommend a complete new output tube set be purchased. The amp is in very good near mint physical condition. It will come shipped in its original box along with the current tube set, high current power cord and owners manual. Please look at the pictures and ask any questions you have. I am the original owner of this amp. I purchased it from Century Stereo in March of 2018. The amp originally came with KT120 tubes. I run them 1680 hours and then upgraded to a cryo matched quad of KT150 from Tube Depot plus a new set of 6H30Pi from Tube Depot as well. Currently the amp has 2281 hours so the new tubes have 601 hours one them.It is one of most 3D sounding amplifiers I have ever heard. Only reason for selling is I am downsizing in housing and no longer have them room for multiple systems.Includes original box, manual, 20amp power cord, everything that originally came from Audio Research. Festpreis! Bitte keine billigen Angebote. Es ist mir egal, was manche Schnäppchenjäger denken, was die Endstufe kosten sollte. Bitte auch die ganze Anzeige lesen, warum ich den Preis verlange. Dieses Endstufe ist mit 120 Watt an 8 und an 4 Ohm ein wunderschönes Röhren-„Monster“. Für mich die schönste Endstufe von Audio Research, da man die Röhren offen sehen kann (nix für Kinder!). Die 8 KT120 Röhren sind allesamt relativ neu und natürlich selektiert. Die gespielte Zeit liegt zwischen 400 und 450 Stunden. Das Gerät wurde für 1100 € (!) bei den Hifi-Profis Frankfurt gewartet (ohne die neuen KT120 Röhren im Wert von weiteren 800 Euro, die hinzukommen) und technisch auf einen exzellenten Stand gebracht. Was genau gemacht wurde, können Sie gerne am Telefon mit dem Techniker besprechen. Ich kann das als Laie nicht alles erklären. Sie bekommen also einen Röhren-Amp im exzellenten Zustand. Eine Abholung in der Nähe von Frankfurt mit Probehören wäre mir sowieso am liebsten. Dann wissen Sie, dass der Verstärker jeden Cent wert ist. Ich bin der Zweitbesitzer. Bitte vergleichen Sie dieses Gerät preislich nicht mit irgendwelchen runtergeschrubbten Exemplaren. Ich besitze die Originalverpackung und einen weiteren Satz von acht 6550C-Röhren, die Sie dazu bekommen. Wie lange diese gespielt haben, weiß ich nicht, da der ursprüngliche Besitzer verstorben ist. Das Gerät war lange Zeit außer Betrieb und wurde dann vom Sohn verkauft und von mir beziehungsweise den Hifi-Profis aufwändig gewartet und mit 8 neuen Röhren und vier weiteren kleinen neu bestückt. Die 6550-er klangen aber auch sehr gut und sind wohl noch gut. Das Gerät ist wahrscheinlich von 2009. Zu der Zeit hat es 7500 € gekostet. Heute wären es bei dem Materialeinsatz sehr deutlich über 10.000 (überlegen Sie mal, was 2009 ein Brot gekostet hat). Der Techniker meinte, das sei noch die echte gute Audio Research Qualität der Ingenieure bevor die Konzern-BWL-er das Ruder übernommen haben und gespart wurde, um den Gewinn zu maximieren. Here’s a nice Audio Research Foundation Series VT80 amp, originally in silver, now in black. I also have what I believe are some original silver trim pieces. If you want those, I will see if i can safely pack them in the original carton with the amp or you can just pay me the extra shipping cost to send a second and smaller box your way. When I got this unit I got in touch with ARC and I ordered the optional tube cage for it along with a new “Certified Matched” factory tube set featuring the SE-spec KT150 tubes. In the two years since, I’ve put just 57.9 Hours on that factory tube set. As you may know, the early units were sold as VT80 with KT120 tubes (as this one probably was). Soon after launch, they went to the larger KT150 tubes and with that change alone, these units became VT80SE tube amps. There was no other difference between VT80 or VT80SE. The SE came by virtue of a simple tube change alone.
