Brief Summary: If you are looking at this high-end audio device, then you probably are already aware of its very high specifications and sound quality. ADCOMs highest quality pre-amplifier originally built in the early 2000s and refurbished around 2019. A true CLASS A design preamplifier originally designed by Nelson Pass for Adcom incorporating many high-end audio parts. Features front-panel or remote operated motorized volume and source selection controls plus balanced XLR or RCA input/output options. The Volume and Balance pots are high quality custom 4-gang ALPs components. In excellent cosmetic condition, please refer to the many images provided of the actual item for sale (has one missing top cover screw over the heat-sink. Hole has thread damage). Super clean panel with gold switch plate, no damage to the toggle switches or parts. Cleaned and de-oxidized (DeoxIT®) input/output jacks. Excellent operating condition and you will be very pleased with the exceptional sound quality. From a fresh and clean, PET FREE / SMOKE FREE home. Offers true high-end Passive mode which bypasses all of the active gain stages of the built-in amplifier. In Passive mode, only the volume control and source selector are part of the signal path (*This is the the only mode I have ever used it in for the cleanest sound.). After a long consideration and some sadness, I am selling my Adcom Flagship Stereo components. I am the original owner and they were all bought at the same time in late 1998. They have been rack-mounted in a smoke-free home with Adcoms optional rack mount ears every since. In fact, I had our builder install the space for the rack mount with plenty of ventilation behind and access via closet door. And, as you can see in the photo, there has been a rack fan on a thermostat and it turns on anytime the surface of the amplifier hits 95 degrees F. The components are in very good shape cosmetically, and excellent shape functionally. In fact, the amplifier was cleaned, inspected, and bench tested just a week or so ago at one of our VERY reputable vintage audio gear tech shop. You can read the receipt / report in the photos and here is a transcript of the voice message Joseph (technician) left on my phone: Hello Michael, its ____ from Magnetic Tape. Im happy to report that the Adcom power amplifier checks out perfectly fine on the bench. Everything seems to be OK. The Bias and D/C offset are perfect and did not require any adjustment. It produces 256 watts per channel at the rate of distortion level on our analyzer, so everything seems to be AOK. Power supply is regulated properly. I see no leakage on the main filter capacitors. We we think youre going to be good to go . . . no reason to change anything out on it. Both channels are running even and balanced after a couple of hours. Theres no drift. The heat is even. We cant find any bad solder connections visually. We see no bulging or leaking caps. . . In addition, about every year or so, I completely removed each component, removed the top, and blew out any dust, and used de-oxit sparingly to clean with a cotton swab connection points. On the preamp, I also would put a drop of two of de-oxit into the volume and balance pots to keep those squeaky clean. All of it still works perfectly and sounds fantastic. FOR 10 days Im going to put it all up for auction as a set to give someone who wants a complete solution a change to buy it as a package. After that Ill list components separately with accompanying photos. But I didnt pull it out of the rack yet because I know the condition and they area all in very excellent condition with maybe a few scuffs from putting in and removing, but nothing major. WHY AM I SELLING IT ALL? Because a couple years ago my dad left me a little inheritance money when he passed away and he get me into my love of music and great audio gear and I have an opportunity to buy a couple McIntosh components for a possible upgrade over this fine Adcom gear. Each has original boxes, manuals, remotes, and power cords. Ill also send the various press clippings from various publications lauding how great this equipment was. EDIT: I received a few questions regarding this pre: Blue Boards: I had completely forgotten about the blue board thing. I never took pics through the top vents and I dont show any notes in my records to confirm this is the blue board version. However, my original 750 had these and I was aware it was important when I replaced with this unit. So Im 95% certain it has them. Im not up to unwrapping/rewrapping; so, if this is critical to you, and you purchase and find its not blue boards, I will accept return. Jumpers: I do not have the original CD jumper pair. Completely forgot about this as well - I was using balanced XLR on the CD input. So if you want to use all 5 of the unbalanced RCA inputs simultaneously, youll need to purchase 2 jumpers. So: exemplary solid state performance, HT bypass, 3 outputs, remote = the perfect preamp for a combined HT/stereo rig. I bought and used one of these for years in my best den rig which also served HT duties: By connecting my AVR front preouts to the 750’s processor input, I could use my higher end amplifier and speakers in the HT rig and not have the clutter of separate HT speakers AND get much better front L&R sound. I also occasionally used the Processor loop to inject some tube soul with the little Dared SL-2000 preamp. I immediately regretted selling my old GFP-750 and bought this unit which was cosmetically inferior and had an aftermarket remote. This has been a workhorse for me for 20 years. The volume control needs servicing it is making scratching noises when adjusting but once set at a volume it works. Adcom GFP-750 - Audiophile Level Nelson Pass Designed Stereo Preamplifier Bought an Ayre K5xe mp, my system has been so upgraded, it has outgrown this overachieving preamplifier. Class A Stereophile magazine rated. Also comes with programmed aftermarket remote. Used it for volume control, not sure what else it will do as volume is all I need. I unplug my gear when not in use. I will insure the preamp when shipped. Checked the pricing at the big used audio websites and $650 is the best price. Audiogon has no 750s and US Audio Mart has one at $650

This Adcom preamp is in awesome cosmetic condition and powers on as it should. I have not tested it beyond powering it on, but will offer a money back guarantee if it does not work properly. Unfortunately, I do not have the remote control so bid with that in mind. Also up for auction is an Adcom GFA-5802 Amp with original box.
