When I received this it had hum in both channels, after changing out the electrolytics in the power supply and line amp sections it eliminated the hum and became quiet. Shortly after that the power switch started to crackle when I had a power amp connected to the switched outlet, so I replaced the power switch with a high current rocker type. I stopped using the preamp about a year ago, when I fired it up today everything seemed to still work fine. A few of the RCA jacks seem to grip the RCA plugs a little too tight, Im afraid its going to damage my RCA cords when removing them. Also the input selector switch seems to have more drag (friction) when you turn it but it seems to switch inputs just fine, thats about all the issues I noticed when playing around with it today. I did not give it an exhaustive checkout so its possible it could have other issues but nothing I noticed during my 30-45 min testing. Old piece, sold asis / no returns but priced accordingly because it still seems to work fine. Will be shipped via FedEx ground, please allow up to 3 days for packing/transport to the FedEx terminal.

About: The GFP-1 is an ideal companion for the Adcom GFA-1 power amplifier, matching its flat-black exterior finish. A large, square pushbutton power switch at the left of the front panel controls two switched a.c. outlets in the rear (there is also one unswitched outlet). The 800-watt rating of the switched outlets makes them suitable for powering the 200-watt-per-channel GFA-1 or any other high-power amplifier. The most prominent feature of the front panel of the GFP-1 is the large volume knob, which operates a lightly detented forty-position control. Smaller knobs are used for the bass and treble tone controls, balance control, and input selector. The last operates a switch at the rear of the preamplifier close to the input jacks through a flexible shaft and provides inputs from two magnetic phono cartridges and two high-level sources (tuner and aux). The other front-panel controls are pushbuttons. Two engage the lo and hi filters (whose infrasonic and ultrasonic cutoff frequencies exclude extraneous noise rather than modify the program content). A mute button drops the gain about 20 dB, and the tone button switches the tone-control circuitry in and out. The loudness button activates the loudness compensation, which follows the criteria of psychoacoustic researchers Robinson and Dadson, providing less extreme low- and high-frequency boost at low volume levels than the earlier Fletcher-Munson curves.

Both units are in good physical condition overall. Selling this pair as parts or repair only because they are not fully tested. Both units receive power.
