This amp doesnt have digital inputs which is great for those who want to use a better modern outboard DAC than the one like the A-S501 Yamaha offers. You dont have to pay extra for a DAC and you can update an external DAC as features and prices improve later if you wish. The A-S500 also has a PHONO INPUT which is not common on all amps currently.
