Klangsensible verzichten lieber auf optische Spielereien, als bei der Wiedergabe Abstriche zu machen. Dass ein gutes Klang-Preis-Verhältnis oft mit einer hausbackenen Optik einhergeht, stört Puristen herzlich wenig. Selbst Kenner der Boxenszene kommen ins Grübeln, wenn sie feststellen, dass Chassis und Weichenbauteile auf dem Niveau einer 381 bei einem Bausatz mehr kosten als bei Nubert die ganze Box. Für visuelle Feinheiten wie Chrom, Lack oder Echtholz ist bei solchen Preisen allerdings kein Spielraum. So ist der Dauerbrenner zwar grundsolide gebaut, doch die Oberflächen sehen nur aus wie Ahorn oder Nussbaum.
