Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage YAMAHA model number JA0518 1½ inch (38mm) soft dome tweeter removed from my NS-10M two-way monitor speakers, manufactured in Japan c.1988. This is the same tweeter used in the NS-10, NS-615, and possibly other high-end YAMAHA speakers, but buyer is responsible for verifying its suitability for any model other than the NS-10M. So, please have a look at the large photos I’ve taken and read the remaining description to decide if this superlative YAMAHA high frequency driver is correct for your needs. This YAMAHA tweeter is in clean, excellent overall condition. The soft textile dome is in flawless shape, well-protected under the acoustically transparent metal screen. Plus, the thick plastic faceplate is also in great shape with no cracks or scratches, just a few light handling marks from the years, and the huge ceramic magnet is free of chips or oxidation. YAMAHA soldered all driver connections in the NS-10M, so I’ve left a few inches of the +/- wires attached to the terminals for the new owner’s convenience when splicing-in to their speaker. Overall, this exceptionally well-preserved high frequency driver is practically indistinguishable from new! Most importantly, the tweeter has been fully tested and sounds great—strong and clear output up to a sparkly, beyond-audibility 20kHz upper limit. And, I tested its DC resistance at 6.3-6.4?, consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3?” square, it stands about 2” tall (including the grille), and the mount holes are spaced 2?” adjacent / 4?” diagonal apart, c-t-c. This is a nice find for somebody with a blown or damaged tweeter in their NS-10M or other suitable model and will have your cherished speakers sounding their finest once again!
