This amp is great for both 2-channel stereo or 5-channel surround. This receiver is very warm and full of body. The DSP sound fields are excellent and really do make a difference depending on source (2-channel stereo, Doby Digital surround, TV Sports, etc.). Dont let the 60 watt RMS rating fool you. This thing will blow you away. It produces a very clean, low distortion, high-current signal that hits far harder than the Yamaha power rating and far better than many 100 watt rating of other receivers Ive owned. Im selling it because my wife gave me a new Vincent Audio Vacuum Tube Hybrid Amplifier for Christmas and while that is excellent sounding, at nearly $3K it sure took a lot more tweaking to get to sound as good and is missing many of the features this receiver has (i.e. like an excellent built-in phono-pre amp for my record player that is simply better than the Pro-Ject pre-amp I had to buy for the Vincent).
