This item is use estate find. The item does power on, and the Tuner And Signal Meter moves while the item is being tuned to station. The item does receive signals on FM and AM, both audio channels produced audio. I did note that one channel seems slightly lower that the other, (however it could have been caused by the connecting cable that was used). The back light, if any, for the Signal Meter does not come On. Overall the item looks fair to near good with scuffs, scratches, oxidation on parts of the metal, and dust. There is some clear tape on the lower back wooden part, the wood may have peeled in those areas. The back looks rough, See images. Hence, this item is being presented STRICTLY as is, for collection/parts. Due to age, and not being fully tested, this item may or will need to be serviced by a qualified technician if use is the intent. Only what is imaged is available. This is a 1974-vintage Yamaha Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Tuner CT-600 that is completely tested, serviced and fully functional. The original 1974 MSRP was $270, which is the equivalent of $1,770 in 2024. This was a mid-range Yamaha tuner in 1974. It shares many components with the more expensive CT-800 tuner.It was meant to pair with a Yamaha CA-600 integrated amplifier, but the styling and size also match very well with most other silver-face Yamaha integrated amplifiers from the mid/late 1970s. Note: I also have a Yamaha CA-400 integrated amplifier for sale that would match up very well with this tuner.Dimensions: 17.25” W, 5.75” H, 12.75” D, 16.5 lbs.I am passionate about vintage Yamaha stereo equipment. I take the time to test every single function of the tuner by connecting it to an external FM antenna and also connecting it to an integrated amplifier and speakers. Doing this lets me listen to how the tuner receives stations and actually sounds. I check every single switch, control and button to confirm that they work as intended.After the initial assessment, I thoroughly clean the outside and inside of the tuner and clean every potentiometer and switch with CRC QD Electronic cleaner. I have aligned the tuning pointer so that it accurately indicates what frequency you are tuned to. This tuner is very strong functionally.This particular CT-600 is in very nice shape cosmetically, as you can see from the photos. Functionally, all of the LEDs, meters, bulbs and controls work as designed. It is hard to believe that it is roughly 50 years old! This CT-600 is serial #14574. It will be wrapped with plastic cling wrap and multiple layers of bubble wrap, before being placed into a sturdy box with appropriate packing material.
