DescriptionYAMAHA CA-600 Pre-main amplifier with low distortion main amplifier. The main amplifier section employs an all-stage direct-coupled pure complementary OCL circuit for clear reproduction from ultra-low to ultra-high frequencies. In addition, a differential amplifier in the first stage of the main amplifier ensures stable operation. The protection circuit is a circuit that instantly activates a relay to shut down the circuit when the DC voltage at the output terminals exceeds ±2V, preventing problems that could damage speakers or power transistors. This protection circuit also serves as a power muting circuit to prevent shock noise when the power switch is turned on or off. The equalizer amplifier section consists of a 4-stage direct-coupled circuit of the NFR method as in the CA-800II, and uses low-impedance transistors. In addition, an emitter follower system is used in the output stage to reduce output impedance, and the amplifier is driven by a +50V constant voltage to achieve high stability, low distortion, and high signal-to-noise ratio. The equalizer element combines a vapor-deposited metal film resistor (±1% error) and a styrene capacitor (±1% and ±2% error) to achieve excellent characteristics. The circuit design is based on computer-aided circuit analysis (CAD method), and the circuit board and terminals are wired at the shortest distance to improve the distortion ratio and S/N ratio, and the pattern is based on the best data available. The Phono 1 circuit is equipped with an input impedance selector switch, which can be switched in three levels for accurate matching with the load impedance of the cartridge used. The tone control circuit is a two-stage direct-coupled circuit using low-noise transistors, with the Yamaha method of applying NF from the collector of the second stage to the emitter of the first stage. The adjustment knob is a click-stop type. The loudness circuit uses a unique continuous loudness circuit. This circuit has a dedicated loudness adjustment knob to enable aural correction according to the actual listening environment. The filter circuit uses the same two-stage direct-coupled circuit as the tone control. A large power transformer with good regulation is used in the power supply circuit. The unit is equipped with a pre-main coupler that allows separate use of the preamplifier and main amplifier, -20dB audio muting, and a tape dubbing switch.
