Nur einige sehr teure CD >1500€ Spieler haben eine Röhren-Ausgangsstufe, die gleiches tut wie der X10-D.Die meisten CD Player sind Laufwerksseitig mechanisch gut, aber die analogen Ausgangstufen sind häufig unterdimensioniert und haben Probleme mit der Impedanz der Eingangsstufe des Verstärkers und den kapazitativen wie induktiven Lasten der Kabel. Die Ausgangsstufe des CD Players arbeitet häufig an ihrer Leistungsgrenze, was den Klang negativ beeinflusst. Der klang ist häufig schroff (S Laute) und kalt.
