One of the most profound listening experiences Ive ever had (and there have been a few) over my 45 years in the audio business was hearing Dave Wilsons original Alexandrias.I will never forget where I was and the track I was listening to... Im not a reviewer and so without plagiarizing one, there is no way for me to describe these masterpieces of audio, art and science.They are simply remarkable in every way. This is the 46 pair made (serial # 0091/0092 in 2004) and were at the time, Wilsons best claim to immortality ~ The improvements over the X1 were quite extraordinary and Wilson would go on to refine every incarnation of the Alexandrias until they simply ran out of ways to improve it and went towards the current reference speaker they make today. Nothing really came close to reproducing sound in a room the way the Alexandrias did and with the exception of the latest incarnations, I cant imagine any other speaker, in this price range keeping up with their sheer impact and reality. Properly set-up (very critical) the Alexandrias simply disappear, which is a remarkable feat for something so large, but that is, after all, the whole idea. What the listener is left with is nothing but the music. The depth, soundstage and total command of the space is what the Alexandrias were designed for and like every pair of Alexandrias, this pair represents the best that Dave Wilson and his team could build at the time. It was my first experience with a speaker over $100,000/pr and I remember just being in awe of them and anyone who had the means to afford them. He wanted the very best reproducer that he could build... regardless of cost and the only other speaker than comes to mind that approaches what might have been spent on R&D on the Alexandrias is the iconic Bowers & Wilkins original Nautilus This pair of X2s were purchased new at Sound Components and set up by Mark Goldman in 2004. It has been a privilege to spend time with them over the years and Ive had an open invitation to listen to them anytime I want to hear them. I have the room (Listening Room #1 jimgraydesigns.com) for them, but between the Nautilus 802D4, the Klipsch LaScala and the brand new Bowers & Wilkins 805D4 Signature, theres just no room for them right now. Wilson Audio Sophia Series 1 speakers in gloss piano black. Cabinets are in excellent condition. One scratch on the rear of one cabinet (see photo). The two top grills have worn areas in the corners. The foam pads on the front have deteriorated. These foam pads are used to hold the grills in place. I used these speakers for 2 years without the grills. Brand new replacement foam sections were purchased from Wilson at a cost of 400 dollars. New Crates were also purchased from Wilson for 1000 dollars. Speakers sound excellent. These speakers come with both spikes for hard floors, and screw in feet for floors where spikes may cause damage. A brand new copy of the factory owners manual is also included. And two brand new shipping crates are also included. Crated each speaker weighs 325 pounds. Local pick up only.

Late model Alexia 1 in a beautiful Mahogany color with extra flake. These are stunning!A popular Porsche color combination. Silver Hardware, Mocha Grills.New resistors professionally installed 15 months ago.There are two small imperfections (that cant be seen from the front).One is a tiny chip in the bottom outside face, about an 1/8 long. I touched it up with the correct Wilson paint and tried to take a picture, but couldnt! Its so small and now color matched. You can only see it if you are very close and on your hands and knees!The other imperfection is a small scrape on the back. Also touched up and again, not visible unless you are very close - picture included.I have all the hardware, but I do not have the original crates. For decades Wilson Audio’s attention to critical time alignment and exotic inert cabinet materials have put their speakers on many end-game lists. Dozens of awards and shows demonstrate their ability to provide listeners with deeply satisfying loudspeakers. The ALEXIA II takes an already classic loudspeaker, and improved in a number of areas. Led by Daryl Wilson who is credited with the fantastic Sasha DAW, SabrinX, and ALEXX V, the design team drew on much of the technology and experience put into the $600K WAMM Master Chronosonic. The IIs ended up possessing much of their musicality and emotion, but in a smaller loudspeaker that was still capable of producing the entire audible range. Built almost entirely out of the same X material used in a number of their speakers currently, the ALEXIA II advanced what was capable in the loudspeaker category. The midrange module benefits from the unique characteristics of S material which is used in ultra critical applications for its specific qualities. With larger internal volumes than the original ALEXIA, re-tuning of the cabinets delivers faster, more dynamic mid-bass, and a effortless dynamics that will put a smile on your face. Port location changes allow for more flexible room placement and linear, controlled bass. Additional fine adjustments are available for more precise time alignment. The tweeter is directly borrowed from the WAMM Master Chronosonic. We could go on and on, but do yourself a favor a listen. Youll understand why these were so successful. Wilson Audio Sophia Series 1 speakers in gloss piano black. speakers come with new Wilson sourced diffusor panels and new Wilson sourced crates. These are listed as parts / repair ONLY due to the diffusor panels deteriorating (new panels are included with the sale). All the drivers are in fine condition. These speakers have been in use for the past 2 years driven by tube electronics with no grills installed. COSMETIC CONDITION. 1. one speaker has a scratch on the rear of the upper cabinet (see photo)2. The second speaker has no defects. 3. both speakers need new diffusor panels installed (new panels sourced from Wilson are included with the sale)4. several of the grills have the corners worn where the fabric has worn through exposing the grill frame edge (see photos). 5. There are no holes in the face of the grills. The potential buyer has two options on these. 1. use the speakers with the grills off - they are plug and play for this. 2. take the time to carefully remove the old diffusor panels, remove all the old adhesive and install the new panels and then re-install the grills. This is the 46 pair made (serial # 0091/0092 in 2004) and were at the time, Wilsons best claim to immortality ~ The improvements over the X1 were quite extraordinary and Wilson would go on to refine every incarnation of the Alexandrias until they simply ran out of ways to improve it and went towards the current reference speaker they make today.
