Llano Design Group, Formerly White Audio Labs, was an amazing company that produced amps and preamps in the late 90s. The products were hailed as a triumph of value for the money. White changed its name to Llano in the late 90s. Randy White was the brainchild of this design and considered brilliant for delivering this level of performance at an affordable price. The company discontinued likely for management reasons. The sound is incredibly natural, with great grip, dynamics and imaging, deep tight bass and smooth detailed highs. They play shockingly loud (cleanly) if necessary. They are conservatively rated at 80 watts per channel, at least the first 15 watts are in pure class A. They run cool.The M-8s are compact, good looking and cute as hell. They are heavy for their size, very well made, perhaps even overbuilt. They exude quality in looks and feel. I originally bought them as temporary amps, while my vastly more expensive (Parasound JC-1 monoblocks) were being repaired. I decided I liked the M-8s better, so I kept them. I recently had to buy $15,000 Norwegian monoblocks to upgrade.They retailed for $1,300 (almost $3,000 in todays money). They come with custom thick maple stands with large, sorbothane, vibration absorbing feet (a $300 value). Maple has been shown to be the most euphonic of all the wood for electronics/audio gear. Also available are upgraded Audio Magic Super Fuses (a $300 value) for $95. Fuses are just starting to be recognized as important. Upgraded fuses help the sound by improving the signal path. All this expensive gear we buy, and the signal comes through a cheap, mass-produced, 4 cent Chinese fuse.
