Used but essentially new. Bought these brand new about a year ago for a two channel AV set up. Didnt think theyd be as bulky as they are or have as large of a footprint as they do. They are nice speakers they just dont work for this application so Im replacing them with some bookshelf units. Very little usage and the are more mint condition than excellent as defined by the guidelines of this or any other site. Because I am passionate for the HIFI domain and an audiophile I choose to redone entire Wharfedale Linton crossovers. Even if the investment was consistent it came with thru sound improvement driving the Lintons to their full potential held back from very cheap parts used inside crossovers giving the speakers a sound from an upper echelon class. The well know expression of lifting a heavy veil from the speakers was really present here one the upgrade was done.The upgrade will maintain the sound signature but will dramatically improve the clarity of the entire frequencies spectrum and also totally transform the stereo image of the speakers expanding it very much, coupled with pinpoint sound positioning.All the muddiness and imprecision of the sound disappear and in their place will come clarity and spatiality but without loosing the nice sound signature of Lintons. I done the crossovers outside box for better response far away from driver magnetic influence and from internal vibrations but they could be done also inside on two wooden plaque as in the picture attached, this will require the removal of internal wood plaque from the base of the original small crossovers. Why I sell this? Because at the end of the year I received an extraordinarily good offer from a local dealer for a pair of GoldenEar Triton one and I could not refuse it.Now because my room it is really small I am forced to sell the Lintons after such hard work and money invested and tens and tens of hours of work to upgrade them. I have had them for about 13 months and they have seen no abuse whatsoever. They are perfect! They come complete as purchased with stands, manuals, original boxes and even the white gloves.. They ship in four boxes and every piece is heavy. My UPS guy used a dollie and two trips. Often, the further they ship the more it will cost. Lower 48 states only. Local pickup is awesome - save money! I will meet a buyer up to 50 miles away if they are paid for in advance. Listen to the rave reviews on YouTube. These guys are beautiful. They are in the mahogany finish and in good fully working condition, although cosmetically both speakers have small marks on the bottom rear corners – please see photographs. To celebrate its history, Wharfedale has established the Heritage Series recreations of famous models from its past, entirely re-engineered using contemporary techniques and materials. The latest loudspeaker to join this collection is the Linton. The original Linton debuted in 1965 and the line continued in various iterations until the end of the 1970s. It was a classic model of its time, viewed as a serious hi-? speaker but also relatively a?ordable. Its cabinet was substantial, big enough to hold three drive units including a good-sized bass unit, yet not overly unwieldy by the standards of the day. The new Linton has a clear family resemblance. It, too, is a three-way standmount model – a rarity in the modern era – retaining similar proportions to the classic Linton models.
