This was Well Tempered Labs top of the line turntable when it first came out. Since then, their product line has grown from three to twelve products currently. Which speaks volume on the success of their designs and products. The most interesting feature on this turntable, in our opinion, is their filament suspended tonearm that is viscous damped. It is such a delicate simple design that it stands out from the competition. You could immediately tell its lightweight design tonearm will not intrude in the signal transfer from the cartridge, through the wires inside and to the RCA jacks on the back. It is currently fitted with a Benz Ruby 3 MC cartridge which in itself retails for $3,000. No exact number on the cartridge hours but it works fine. But like all used cartridges, just have a new one handy in case you need to swap it out. The current pairing is deliciously rich and warm sounding. They really bring out the best in vinyl with an organic analog sound. Base plinth is a lot heavier than the Classic we also have for sale in another listing. So the platter is spinning on a much heavier and sturdier base which gives it a steadier turning spin. We dont have the original packaging and due to its open access of the silicone fluid, local pickup preferred. If shipping is required, silicone fluid will be drained into a container. NO RESERVE AUCTION!! This was a pretty sophisticated turntable in its day. Even today, many vinyl enthusiast remain in awe with its design and sound. Setup can demand a lot of patience and a very steady hand but once it is properly establish (like the one you see here), you have nothing else left to do except sit back and enjoy your records. The arm sits in a cup of silicone arm fluid and suspended/balanced via a nylon string that is the trickiest part of the setup. But put on a great cartridge, like the Blue Oasis MC cartridge that is installed now, the whole turntable is ready to complete with other turntables costing up to $10,000. Motor pulley is housed in a separate chassis and the belt is then looped around the acrylic platter. The motor chassis base has some nicks around it but its cosmetic only and has no impact on the performance. Extra tube of silicone fluid and pulley (for nylon string belt) are included. Rest of the turntable looks good with the usual scuff marks common with use. Dustcover is included. We dont have the original packaging so local pickup preferred. I have some Well tempered tonearm parts that I am not using at this point. Baseplate with cup and tonearm holder mounting point. Braces for the upper part of the tonearm which includes the Azimuth wheel. The rca connector bracket in the back. These are just parts in good condition. Please carefully look at all the pictures. This Well Tempered tonearm appears to be complete. It needs to be rewired, and damping fluid will need to be added. The strings are attached to the paddle. We cleaned the fluid that remained as best we could. There may be some residue. The cup that the damping fluid sits in is loose and will need to be reattached.
