Victor TT-81 turntables. This auction is for two (2) TT-81 turntable motors. Both have had the electrolytic capacitors replaced but they still exhibit the same symptoms as before. Im selling them as a pair as I cant be sure which has what issues! I sold another one and included the step-down transformer, so I cant validate which is which without buying another transformer, so I thought I would try to sell as a pair. Here are the issues. Turntable 1 will power up, lock into 33.3 or 45, but after a few minutes it will slow down and speed up intermittently. As mentioned above, the same symptoms existed before I replaced the capacitors. I tried to diagnose and fix, but without an oscilloscope and knowledge on how to use one, Ive run out of patience in diagnosing. The TT-81 service manual (included via .pdf) has an excellent troubleshooting section, but I made it as far as I could without a scope. I firmly believe someone with the knowledge of using a scope (or patience and time to learn) could remedy the issues with the TT without any further electronics work. Turntable 2 will speed up very fast upon powering up, regardless of 33 or 45. With this one as well, the troubleshooting section of the manual describes the issue but you need a scope to fix. Both are in very good cosmetic condition, and one platter mat is included (the second TT does not have a mat). Im pricing these so that you are essentially buying one turntable that needs repair, and getting an identical model (needing repair) included.
