When tested the VHS player only worked with a scart lead and not an HDMI cable but I assume this is a compatibility issue. The rest of the system worked fine with an HDMI with no issues. This is a very easy to use machine and will allow you to convert VHS Tapes onto DVD Dubbing and TV is via HDMI or Scart, VHS tape playing is via scart only, this is how they were made.
