Hello Everyone - Last summer I had Magnetic Tape here in Louisville, KY disassemble the unit to clean and relube the bearings and motor, upgrade the RCA plugs and add a new belt. It has the hard-to-find bottom cover (Linn enthusiasts routinely remove this in the quest for better sound and then these are often discarded), and a smoky black Linn dustcover is mounted to spring-assisted hinges. The deck is in excellent condition, both visually and soncially, and comes with a Stax UA-7 tonearm, which was a highly-regarded combination in its day. I am including a second spare headshell (the black one, see pics), but the unit does not come with a cartridge or stylus. The armboard is optimally balanced, the gap between platter and chassis is perfectly symmetrical all around, and the deck spins perfectly at 331/3 RPM. Ive tested a number of different cart setups on this unit, and theyve all sounded fantastic (Shure M3D, Stanton 981HZS & 681EEE, Grado Reference Platinum I (wooden body)), so I am of the opinion that this Stax is a versatile tonearm that will sound wonderful with whatever cart you decide to mount to it. The corners are in great shape with just a bit of expected wear, and they all join nice and flush at the edges. Black felt Linn dustmat is original to the deck. Hello Everyone - Last summer I had Magnetic Tape here in Louisville, KY disassemble the unit to clean and relube the bearings and motor, upgrade the RCA plugs and add a new belt. It has the hard-to-find bottom cover (Linn enthusiasts routinely remove this in the quest for better sound and then these are often discarded), and a smoky black Linn dustcover is mounted to spring-assisted hinges. The deck is in excellent condition, both visually and soncially, and comes with a Stax UA-7 tonearm, which was a highly-regarded combination in its day. I am including a second spare headshell (the black one, see pics), but the unit does not come with a cartridge or stylus. The armboard is optimally balanced, the gap between platter and chassis is perfectly symmetrical all around, and the deck spins perfectly at 331/3 RPM. Ive tested a number of different cart setups on this unit, and theyve all sounded fantastic (Shure M3D, Stanton 981HZS & 681EEE, Grado Reference Platinum I (wooden body)), so I am of the opinion that this Stax is a versatile tonearm that will sound wonderful with whatever cart you decide to mount to it. The corners are in great shape with just a bit of expected wear, and they all join nice and flush at the edges. Black felt Linn dustmat is original to the deck.
