He was one of the first to popularize Class A amplifiers in the 1970s when most manufacturers were striving for massive power output, and the Threshold 400A and 800A were landmark designs. The Stasis amplifiers that followed, sought to satisfy those wanting higher power output while retaining the musical qualities of Class A. I have many a fond memory of listening to Stasis amplifiers on the high end speakers of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.The technical highlights of the CAS 2 are as follows: full dual mono design, twelve high-speed output devices per channel, stout power supply and high current capability. It delivers 125 watts per channel and rated distortion is a mere 0.03%.

Here is the story on this amp. I bought a lot of 24 condition unknown devices. I am an Electronic Technician but only have so many hours per day to devote to repair. I could not locate any schematic for this amp. In order to provide information to aid in you valuing this item I tested all the output transistors for shorts. NONE of the output transistors are shorted. I did not test any further. I did test the - and + power supply rails on both sides. They are both identical. That is where I stopped. This item DOES need to be repaired! Both channels are distorted and sound like some sort of motorboating. All the transistors are the original ones as manufactured. I did not notice any component that was overheated. This is a VERY CLEAN MOST EXCELLENT APPEARING AMPLIFIER. It is built like a TANK! The front panel is like 1/2 thick. It is one heavy beast. I do not offer any warranty whatsoever. I do not accept any returns for any reason. Check my feedback please. I do not sell junk. This amp is NOT working properly. Selling AS IS. In excellent working condition, this Threshold Monoblock amp looks and sounds superb. It has a few very light cosmetic blemishes, as youd expect with age, but overall it presents very nicely. In terms of the sound quality, it is difficult to put into words how good this amp sounds, and the ways in which it excels. It has a very rich overall sound that is irresistible- sweet and delicate on the highs (you can hear every detail, but with NO harshness EVER), the mids are punchy and airy (very accurate and resolute, but SWEET on the ears!), and the bass is tight yet deep, powerful without being muddy or boomy. This amp has a way of creating the experience of massive SPACE in the sound, like there is somehow room for everything in the mix, like there is AIR in between each instrument, so that you can hear all the details of the music.
