This Thorens TD160 turntable is a vintage gem that will take you back to the good old days of vinyl. It comes with a Shure cartridge and a good lid. The belt drive turntable with stereo L/R RCA audio outputs was manufactured in Germany in 1972, making it a first-generation model. The turntable has two speed settings, 45RPM and 33.3RPM, that allow you to enjoy your vinyl collection at your desired pace. The turntable has some chips on lid with a crack on hinge area but still attached. Its in fully working condition and has new belt fitted. This is a vintage Thorens TD160 turntable fitted with a Shure V15 II cartridge. It is one of a number of turntables that I own and seldom use, so I have decided to sell it. The turntable is in good cosmetic condition for its age and was in working order the last time I used it, but is probably in need of a mechanical and electrical overhaul. It runs smoothly at 33rpm but I can hear the belt rubbing at 45rpm, so the speed-change mechanism probably needs some adjustment. The dust-cover is in reasonable condition with some light scratches and misting. The left hinge is broken (see photo), which is a common issue on this model, but is still functional. I will provide a replacement belt. I bought it from William Thakker in Germany but the original Thorens belt is still good, so I have never used the Thakker belt. The cartridge is fitted with a little-used aftermarket stylus, probably with less than 40 hours of use. I will also provide the original Shure stylus that came with the turntable - it has unknown hours but still sounds good. The aftermarket stylus is a bonded elliptical while the original stylus was a nude elliptical. I bought an aftermarket hyper-elliptical (HE) stylus for the cartridge - a Japanese-made BLISS from Turntable Needles in the US. It is not included in this sale but I could sell it to the winning bidder, if desired. Again, it is little-used, with only about 20 hours of use. I paid about £130 for it but would sell it for half that price, so £65. This is a UK-only sale and is by collection in person from Chesterfield only.
