NO RESERVE AUCTION - Thiel 04a floorstanding speakers If the 04a were to be sold now, it would probably be priced at $2,400 (inflation adjusted from $670 in 1980). But back then, it was a stunning bargain with its time aligned sloping front baffle and very musical sound. Simplicity was the order of the day when Thiel designed them. Previous owner loved it so much he had them for more than 25 years and only recently replaced the 6 cone woofers for something more current - kevlar based woofer, which gave it a tighter, faster and slightly deeper base. The speakers still retained much of its original musicality but with a much improved bass response. He also repainted the side and back panel a creamy white to blend with the aesthetics of his room. It looks good now with some scratches/nicks here and there but if you want to give them some TLC, you can make them come out much more sharper looking. For the many who visited our store and were amazed by how good they sound, now is your chance to own them since we refused to sell them prior. So dont miss this opportunity!
