This was a working unit unit until it developed distortion from both channels, so it is listed as not working for parts only. It was only used with a coax input so I do not know if the fiber optic input is any different. I would assume it is not. So this is a non working unit for repair or parts, please bid accordingly. Theta Digital DS Pro Basic 3 (don’t mix with Basic 2 which isn’t as good). I bought this DAC as parts/not working thinking I could maybe fix it or could ask a friend to fix it. I have spare fuses with the same rating also that I will include. For sale is a Theta DS Pro Generation III digital processor in good condition. This DAC has been recently serviced and new electronic components put in such as 2 toggle switches, a capacitor, and a resistor. Our tech has confirmed this piece is in great working order and sounding awesome. Cosmetically there are some blemishes like edge wear on the front face and sides of the unit. There is also some marks on the top plate of the DAC and the rubber of the power cable has some tears in it. All of these blemishes have been showcased in the photos. Although these piece has some obvious signs of use, it is still 100% functional and sounding absolutely incredible. The Theta DS Pro Generation III is a superb product worthy of my highest recommendation. Listening through it, I consistently crossed the threshold from good sound to total immersion in the music. This was digital playback of the highest caliber. Working, Very good condition. Very nice sounding D/A converter. $1250 originally. From a 1991 Stereophile review written by Robert Harley:Parts quality is very high. The capacitors associated with the Bitstream DAC are primarily polystyrene, all resistors are 1% metal-film types, and four of the resistors in the feedback loop are $3 non-inductive wirewound types. These resistors reportedly had a huge effect on the Primes sound quality. In addition, a few Teflon capacitors (very expensive) are used in critical audio stages. The metal work is zinc over copper over steel, and the pcb is glass epoxy.MusicI could go on, but you get the idea.
