This vintage Technics SL-P 999 CD player is a very scarce, high-end device that has been restored and upgraded with a brand new NOS laser and other extras. I initially put in a replacement SOAD 70A laser from another player and later installed a NOS brand new SOAD 70A laser. It is compatible with CD, CD-R, and CD-RW playable media formats and has a sleek black color. The player features a headphone jack, stereo L/R RCA, and digital optical TOSLINK audio outputs for versatile connectivity. The Technics brand is known for its exceptional audio quality and this player is felt by many to be the best Technics CD player ever made! It is perfect for any home audio setup and is sure to impress any audiophile. Whether youre a collector or simply looking for an outstanding sounding, reliable CD player, this Technics SL-P 999 is your best choice. The CD player was modded G & D Designs. This one had been modded in 1990 by a Bob Crump of G & D Transforms. Apparently G & D Transforms was a modifier of Technics and other equipment of the day and they were still in business until a few years ago. Bob Crump of G & D Transforms, T & G Audio/CTC (Curl, Thompson and Crump) was a talented high end audiophile. He was well known in the industry in particular for his Bybee Sucker power conditioners as well as for sharing rooms at CES conventions with amplifier guru John Curl. Bob also did custom modifications to certain high end audio gear, but only those he has tried, tested and voiced to his liking. In addition to modifying gear, Bob built eleven lines including a preamplifier, DAC, and amplifier. He had his own lines of every type of interconnect, speaker cabling and power cords that make a system go. Mr. Crump is no longer alive. The mod was done to the clock to eliminate jitter to improve its already excellent sound. Very detailed without any bloat. The Technics SL-P 999 has an unusual quad-4X DAC with linear 20 bit Burr Brown PCM 56 chips with 8 X oversampling. It was sold from 1989-90 and sold for $599 new. They are very hard to find today especially a fully restored one like this. There is one other 999 listed on eBay at present for $2100 plus shipping. So, my price is more than reasonable for a CD player that will last another 30 yearsin restored condition! What you get: Disc format: CD, also players CD-R.
