This is a somewhat rare turntable by Technics, in 100% original condition and luckily stored in the box for the last 40 years. I see minor scuffs on the cover, everything appears to work as intended, tested with an actual LP on a stereo system. Sound is good but you can of course replace the cartridge for something better. I have sold +100 turntables on eBay since 1998. I know how to box this for shipping so it arrives in 1 piece. Will be double-boxed, with internals immobilized. I remember buying this deck back in Autumn 1982 when I went to college. On receipt of my grant cheque, I did what all self respecting students do; I went out and bought a deck, amp and speakers! OK, so I went hungry that term and ended up with scurvy, but that is another story! Its travelled around with me a fair bit. But for the last, ooh probably 20 years, this deck has been consigned to my attic. It is time to clear out and declutter. As I already mentioned in the condition area, you will need to buy a new turntable mat as the original rubber mat has gone very hard. it has basically perished, gone wobbly and cracked. In the video, I pinched a mat from my current turntable to be able to place a record on the platter safely - this is not included in the sale. You will need to cut a hole in your new mat as there is a record detection lever to detect if a record is present, to prevent the stylus from being lowered in error. It is an easy fix to cut the hole, especially as the old warped and perished turntable mat can be used as a template. This is an interesting and very rare (from what Ive found in my searches) turntable. It is quite impressive how the slightest lateral pressure on the cartridge causes the motors to track the record grooves as they move across the tracks in the record (or vinyl). For an analogue, mechanical system it really is quite smart. You can see when I push the cartridge manually the turntable says that was way too much of a lateral force, I am returning to my home position. Like I said its clever.Unfortunately, in my video my wife had the radio on in the kitchen, so there is some background noise. But it sounds great! In the original box you will also find the original earthing cable, a power cable and also an old res/white audio cable. I have to say I will be kind of sad to see it go. So much of my music education was played out with this deck.
