Beim Direktantrieb wird ein langsam laufender Motor eingesetzt, der den Plattenteller direkt auf der gleichen Achse antreibt. Dieses System bietet viele Vorteile wie z.B. besten Gleichlauf, hohes Antriebsmoment, angenehme Wartungsfreiheit und herausragende Zuverlssigkeit ber die gesamte Lebensdauer. Jedoch waren ltere Direktantriebsmotoren vom sogenannten Rastmoment geprgt, kleinen Mikrovibrationen, die auf magnetische Umpolungsvorgnge zurck gehen. Beim SL-1200MK7 kommt ein neuer Antriebsmotor zum Einsatz, dessen Stator ohne Eisenkern auskommt. Daher ist dieser Motor auch frei vom Rastmoment.
