  • Description

Technics Portable CD Player SL-XP7 with Case SH-CDB7 - partially working - see description below. These are highly sought after by collectors as they are one of the first CD players from the mid 80s as well as one of the first high end personal CD players. What was revolutionary at the time is that this used rechargeable batteries which is embedded in the case or could be directly used by plugging into the wall. Those that know about these understand that they are hard to find and especially hard to find in this sort of condition. There are a couple of very subtle scrapes and scratches, but all in all this is a nearly flawless CD player that was well taken care of. While it has been in my collection, I have always kept it in a box so that it was dust free and not jostled around. The bad on this is that it needs service. A cd is able to spin freely so the mechanism is not seized. The sled is also freely moving from what I can tell. It powers on as well. The battery pack also powers on while under AC power only. In powering on, it rarely reads the CD and often displays all of the digits on the display (as seen in the picture). This leads me to believe it simply needs service rather than is completely non functioning. It has not been opened or serviced while I have owned it. Also will include a 3rd party power cord. Shipping is with Canada Post and is a flat rate with tracking. Shipping to Canada is $35 and to the USA is $50. The CD player and case will be wrapped in bubble wrap and packed as well as possible to make sure that it has the best chance of getting to you in one piece, however please note that I cannot be responsible for damaged items due to the postal service.

Usually the case alone goes for a couple hundred and this case is definitely in fantastic shape. I did note that it does spin so it is not seized. • Description

Technics Portable CD Player SL-XP7 with Case SH-CDB7 These are highly sought after by collectors as they are one of the first CD players from the mid 80s as well as one of the first high end personal CD players. The bad on this is that there is no charging cord so I am unfortunately unable to test the unit and therefore have to sell as is. With a cord and functioning, these are easily $1000+ units. Usually the case alone goes for a couple hundred and this case is definitely in fantastic shape. I did note that it does spin so it is not seized. It has not been opened or serviced while I have owned it and it would be recommended to also get this serviced.
