Technics RS-M255X Stereo Cassette Deck With dbx Noise Reduction DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY! The deck chatters when fast forwarding and rewinding causing the tape to lose and regain tension rapidly and harshly. This WILL ruin tapes. There is a spring that sits behind the main reel gear that is missing a clip, so proper tension on the gear for high speed forward and reverse is missing. We also believe this deck will need at least some capacitors replaced sooner rather than later. Its a spaghetti mess of wire inside also. We did fully disassemble this deck, cleaned it, painted the top cover and replaced the belts and pinch roller. This deck seems to play and record okay but really does not like low quality tapes. We are selling this as a parts or repair project only and are not accepting returns for any reason.

Technics RS-M250 Stereo Cassette Deck Player - Good Condition - Parts OR Repair This item is being sold in AS-IS condition for PARTS OR REPAIR. No returns, no adjustments after the sale. In very good cosmetic condition. Some minor signs of use but overall very nice. No deep scratches. No dents. I tested this and the issue I am 99% sure is the head mechanism belt. The main drive belt looks good. Saw a video and the head mechanism belt is a bit tricky and difficult to get to. I dont have time to get in there and do the work. FWD and REW works. But I do NOT recommend putting a cassette in this until you have serviced it. Because the head mechanism sometimes does lift the head it has trouble releasing, putting it down, making it impossible to remove the cassette once it is inside. I had to remove the cover to manually turn the loose belt to release, put down, the head to be able to retrieve the cassette. Let me know if you have questions.

Someone cut the plug off the power cord at some point. I was able to test it at friends shop and it does power up. Lights up just fine. This example has survived well, watch and listen to it playing Don Henley here. Scratch on the top, tape residue on one side (goo gone to the rescue!) otherwise excellent. Modern automated postal handling machines are not kind to fine antiques and collectables, and despite our best efforts at diligent packaging we have had items destroyed, and a few have simply vanished. For this reason, we will not ship any item with a value greater than $25 without adding insurance. As eBay has no way to do this, the insurance is added as a handling fee. Large, heavy items we ship UPS ground. As we live 15 minutes from the nearest UPS store, please be patient with us when purchasing a large, heavy item.
