Rare Japanese-market Panasonic (aka Technics) RS-B965 3-head direct-drive cassette deck. TOTL deck from 1989-90 with fully Amorphous heads, Dolby B/C and DBX noise reduction. Also includes original remote control. Fully serviced, aligned and calibrated to factory specs. 100% full working order with no issues. There are a few minor scratches on the top cover, otherwise its beautiful. This is a 100v model and I will include brand new 120-100v step-down transformer (see last picture). This deck has numerous upgrades and improvements, including new power supply caps and new signal path caps (Nichicon Muse); replacement of all (5) 4066 CMOS switches with modern Analog Devices ADG6412 super low on-resistance switches with custom adapter boards; sockets have been installed in all op amp positions so you can experiment with op amp rolling for even more improvement in audio quality (original op amps will be installed). There are a handful of other upgrades that dont directly affect the sound--some factory recommended--and I will provide the buyer a detailed list of all the work done. The transport mechanism has had a full tear down, clean, lubrication and fresh belt and runs at perfect speed (less than 0.1% deviation). Wow and flutter is factory spec at 0.03% WRMS, 0.06% peak. Heads are in great shape with low use. Frequency response is flat from 20-20,000Hz. A cassette backlight has been installed. All tactile switches have been replaced. Tapedeck wurde Lange zeit nicht benutzt.Funktioniert aber im Grunde mit kleinen wehwehchen! Wird Deshalb als Defekt verkauft! Was mir aufgefallen ist bei einen kurzen Test. Er hat ohne probleme abgespielt und gespult bis sich aufeinmal das rechte rädchen nicht mehr mitgedreht hat und das band nicht mit eingezogen wurde in die Kasette. Daraufhin wurde play und spulen natürlich nach kurzer zeit unterbrochen. Daraufhin habe ich das Tapedeck geöffnet und mal reingeschaut. Es saß ein zahnrad locker. Das wieder so raufzubekommen ohne das teil auseinander zu bauen unmöglich. Zahnrad ist rausgeflogen. Foto vom zahnrad und ein foto mit schraubendreher wo das Zahnrad saß. Fachleute wissen sicherlich wo es hingehört. Optisch in einen guten Zustand Denke mit einer ordentlichen Inspektion läuft das teil wieder sauber und ohne Probleme. Rare Panasonic (aka Technics) RS-B965 3-head Amorphous cassette deck. Serviced and in great working order. Sounds wonderful! Many regard this as Matsushitas highest achievement in cassette technology, and among the top 10 decks of all manufacturers. They are getting extremely hard to find in the past few years. This is the 100V Japanese model, so you will want to get a 120-100v step down transformer, available for around $30 on Amazon or elsewhere. Deck has been completely gone through: mechanism/motors/bearings/gears/pinch rollers/capstans have been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated. Heads aligned and azimuth adjusted with Hanspeter Roth full track test tapes. Dolby, Bias and Calibration tones have been adjusted per service manual. New belt and all new ALPS tactile switches installed (over 20 of them!) Deck has excellent frequency response, even on Type 1 tapes. Wow & Flutter tests at, or below, specifications (max. .03% WRMS). Cosmetically there are few signs of light wear; a couple small scratches on the top of the face plate, and a few very minor stray marks on the cover. Please examine pictures for details.
