I am the original owner of this Technics SL5200 Turntable. It was purchased in 1978 and after a few years of use, it was packed away for a house move and never used again. After two house downsizing moves, it is now time to sell this Like New direct drive Quartz turntable. It is fantastic physical shape for being 46 years old. It is a direct drive (no belt), semi-automatic turntable and weighs 15.2 lbs. This also included is an ADC XLM Mk II phono cartridge already mounted on the ADC shell. (This phono cartridge alone can sell for $150 to $250.) The turntable is in cosmetically excellent condition. See photos. The silver color of the deck looks great. You can choose to switch the stylus illuminator light on while playing an album, in the photos I tried to show the light on and off. The dust cover lid is original and has no cracks or chips at all. I took pics of all (4) corners to show this. It does have very light scratches from dusting and cleaning the dust cover. I never placed anything on the dust cover lid including the album jacket covers. I tested the turntable by playing an album. Everything worked as I remembered. Technics SL 5200 sounded wonderful. It is in original condition. Included: · ADC XLM Mk II phono cartridge already mounted on the ADC shell. · The original head shell and placed in it’s holding place in the pics. · The original 45 RPM adapter · Original Technics overhang gauge · The original operating instructions in near perfect condition · The original blank warranty card · The original Panasonic Service insert · The original technics foldout sell sheet (4 copies) printed in Japan This may be the cleanest and most complete Technics Direct drive turntable to come up for sale in years. We tested this unit to the extent of powering it up and making sure the table turned and the lights came on. The cartridge is an Audio Technica AT88E. We are unsure of what stylus is attached. Light cosmetic wear is evident, but you can tell this turntable was well taken care of. The dust cover lid has very little in the way of scratches, just a few surface ones. The feet are all intact, with original felt still attached. The hinges still allow the lid to softly come down and stays up when lifted. We noticed that the spacer for 45s is missing. Maintained Grease up, lubrication, contact revival, adjustment of each part, cleaning, etc. Features of SL-1301: Automatically controls the turntable speed. It is equipped with an electronic brake mechanism to stop the turntable quickly. It is a very popular model with good operability. Check items after maintenance: 45 rpm and 33 rpm speed stable and normal. Single disc and LP disc auto play function normal. Repeat function normal. Cartridge left/right playback normal. Electronic brake mechanism normal. There are some minor scratches on the cabinet. Dust cover is cracked in two places. (9th and 10th images). They have been repaired with a strong adhesive, so I do not think they will spread any further. The PHONO (RCA) cable has been replaced with a new one. (8th image) SL-1301 has been on the market for more than 40 years. The sound quality of the PHONO cable has deteriorated over time, and in rare cases, there have been defects in the playback of one channel.
