Overview The universal tone arm was developed to address the major issue of low-frequency resonance damping in pickup systems. The variable dynamic damping mechanism is capable of properly damping low-frequency resonances of both high and low compliance types, bringing out the full potential of the cartridge. The main weight is split and supported by a spring on one side, and floats on the other side by the attractive force between two magnets placed opposite each other at the rear of the weight and the damping selector. The resonance of the weight is damped by viscous silicon oil and a damping cylinder, effectively damping the resonance of the entire pickup system and successfully reducing resonance to less than half that of conventional systems. The resonance frequency of the main weight can be adjusted with the damping selector at the rear of the main weight according to the cartridge compliance, and the amount of braking can be set to an appropriate value. The arm pipe, 9.5 mm in outer diameter and 0.5 mm thick, is made of titanium nitride pipe arm, which is made of lightweight and mechanically strong titanium that has been further hardened by nitrogen. The tone arms support structure is made of titanium nitride pipe. Both the horizontal and vertical rotation sections of the tone arm are supported by a gimbal suspension system that uses bearings with high-precision pivot bearings manufactured in-house. The horizontal and vertical rotation axes intersect at a single point, minimizing differences in initial sensitivity and sensitivity in all rotation directions. Rubies, whose coefficient of friction is about 1/3 that of steel, are super-finished into balls with a sphericity of ±0.5?m, and 20 rubies are used.Combined with the gimbal suspension system, it achieves a high initial sensitivity of 5mg. One of the best turntables and tonearms Technics ever made. Includes SH-10E power supply (Japanese 100V model, will include a voltage converter), SH-10B3 plinth in beautiful condition, and the legendary EPA-100 tonearm. Includes a tonearm cable made by Blue Jeans Cable. Turntable plays correctly at all three speeds as indicated by the onboard strobe (which works). The tonearm has no play in the bearings (this is a common problem with the EPA-100 and can be expensive to repair). There are some minor surface scuffs on the motor unit and armboard, the rest of the plinth is in excellent condition as is the dust cover. Turntable will be shipped with the platter and tonearm removed to prevent damage in transit. Tonearm will be shipped in a separate box. Due to age, sold as-is, no returns.
