TEAC / Tascam model 80-8 A professional 1/2 multitrack tape recorded, originally targeted towards small-to-medium studios and media production companies, became an industry classic due to its durability and performance. High-speed (15IPS) 8-track studio machine. Great if you want to go out-of-the-box and record in a classic, fully analog way, or if you simply want to add a bit of tape compression and saturation to you clinical-sounding digital mixes. 80-8 has been used to create all special audio effects in the original Star Wars movie series (e.g. the voice of R2D2). Still in demand today, as bands, such as Surprise Chef, still use it to record full albums, and to get that classic vintage sound out of it: youtu.be/D-uThmynHQE Solid machine, comes in a good working condition. It spent last couple of years collecting dust in an attic, but I got it out recently, cleaned it up and actually started to use it again, having a lot of fun, as it pairs with my vintage keys perfectly. While its more common in the US, its rather a rare gem here in the UK and entire Europe in general.
