The door will not open. When the open / close button is pushed the light flashes on that button. I can hear it spool up but no other sounds. Light stops flashing after 5 or 6 flashes. Bought second hand many years ago under the impression it worked but never got the door to open. Never took it apart on my watch. I was bummed and put in closet. Clearing space now and time for someone else to flip, or enjoy.

Esoteric audio is a spinoff company of the Japanese owned TEAC Corporation. The Esoteric corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility began in the United States in 1987. Esoteric engineers made the best value cables in the world. The President of Esoteric Audio wrote a letter to the editors of Stereophile magazine in the late eighties/early 90s ripping them for promoting high end, overpriced audio cables. He explained what many people always suspected; audio cables can only improve performance to a finite degree and expensive cables were a money grab. He claimed the most any cable should cost is fifty bucks. I do remember at that time they were the only remaining American cable manufacturer and I became a happy customer. Today Esoteric no longer manufactures cable but they do manufacture high end audio gear. This listing is for 5 3 first generation Musica cables from 1990 with no numeric identifying model number like later models. Later Musica cables have numbers (100/200 etc) signifying different quality levels, but the first generation Musica cables were just one high end product They are 18 gauge double shielded with multiple stranded center conductor, super flexible air cellular foam dielelectric, cell poly foam skin, a split center pin, and 24K gold plated brass connectors with fanned inputs. They are the only cables I trust not to rip the inputs out of the back of a Carver TFM amplifier and you folks who have owned one know what I am talking about. There is no better cable available near the price point of first generation Esoteric audio cables.
