Replace belts for both sides, just to find out that one side is not working. It seems that one side is stuck in play mode. The other inside works great, tested with cassette and it works with no problem.

this highly evolved deluxe model 90s low-profile SONY dual deck wont disappoint, and, features their famous dual motor drive transports, with uP controlled rotating cam design, time tested, and now sports 4 new belts and 4 new pinch rollers, resolving obvious age-related issues (decomposed and rock hard rubber). not so obvious is a need for fixing a slipping split spline gear in the take up motor drive, causing the uP to jumble the tape. not good, is done. deck A and B sides are now matched at 0 dB PB and REC levels, as well as speed. all motor and capstan bearings lubed. motors run cool with zesty torque. handles thin 120 min tapes with ease. finished tapes have an excellent pack, recordings are true mirror image of source. all heads near mint condition/wear (low mileage). head reversal is non-binding.
