It is equipped with Dolby S NR as a noise reduction system. The Dolby SR technology used in professional equipment is introduced, and tape noise is reduced to about 1/16 of its original level by precise signal processing.Furthermore, the breathing phenomenon peculiar to NR is suppressed by meticulously controlling the size and pitch of the sound. The audio circuit layout follows the signal flow as much as possible. The heavy mechanical deck is placed in the center of the front panel in a mid-ship mechanical system to minimize the negative effects of chassis distortion on the sound. A rigid half-hold mechanism is employed to prevent vibration and sound pressure that the cassette halves are directly subjected to.The cassette holder made of highly vibration-resistant fine ceramic composite material and the cassette stabilizer using sorbothane, which has excellent vibration damping properties, have been replaced with a dual-lock mechanism that locks the cassette holder on both sides, instead of the conventional lock on one side. To ensure the effectiveness of the cassette stabilizer, the delayed action stabilizer mechanism, in which the stabilizer is crimped onto the half after the cassette lid is closed, secures the tape more securely. The TC-KA3ES employs super bias, which reduces interference caused by bias to the audio signal by shifting the frequency of the bias signal away from the audio signal bandwidth; in the TC-KA3ES, the bias frequency is shifted up to 160 kHz to reduce beat noise and intermodulation distortion. The TC-KA3ES is equipped with a 3-point REC calibration function to realize recording that makes the most of the tapes capabilities. The internal oscillator, which previously had two points of adjustment, is now expanded to three points (400 Hz, 3 kHz, and 15 kHz) to more precisely match the characteristics of the tape. The capstan motor uses a direct drive system with a 3-phase BSL motor to minimize rotation irregularities.Furthermore, a closed-loop dual capstan system is used to reduce wow and flutter by sandwiching the tape between two sets of capstan and pinch rollers to suppress modulation noise. The Lapis (sapphire capstan base) system, which uses high-hardness, low-friction sapphire for the capstan motor bearing, maintains stable running accuracy over the long term.
