However there is a restriction that simultaneous 2-track recording is limited to either 1- or 2-track or 3- or 4-track combinations. It features MP3 as the recording file format which seems to help reduce file size. In addition even though MP3 is used as the file format punch-in and punch-out are also possible just like in general multitrack recorders. It has a built-in GM sound source and can play Standard MIDI File (SMF). SMF files created on a PC or other device can be played back on the unit. You can also record while playing back SMF files and finally mix them down. After recording guitars and other instruments SMFs can be replaced and mixed down allowing for minor arrangement changes along the way. Connects to a computer via USB.
