On offer is aRARE Vintage 1970s Tandberg Portable 41 TP41 Transistor Radio with a missing battery compartment door. Numerous imperfections with is, including, scuffs, scratches and other marks which I have been unable to remove with a light wipe. The L-M-S knob is very stiff when twisting. I have tried to power up with batteries without success, so this is sold as PARTS ONLY/SPARES REPAIRS/NOT WORKING. Please, please, please remember this before bidding and study photos carefully.

This is a classic and highly-regarded Tandberg TP41 portable radio from the 1970s. The model is rated highly for sound quality and reception abilities. The TP41 is battery only - the later TP43 had a built in mains unit. This example is in very good condition - even the plastic station markers are all present - and sounds very good. Please note the following points: - it powers up fine and everything is working on battery - the aerial is nice and straight - the rather lovely wooden case is undamaged but needs a clean and polish and, in particular, the loudspeaker frets are all intact - the push buttons need cleaning both cosmetically and electrically - both waveband dials move on FM band and AM bands (long, medium and shortwave) - there is no dial light - the FM tuning knob is slightly wobbly - there is no corrosion in the battery department and all the clips for the plastic cover are intact SOUND: - As usual, there is nothing broadcast on shortwave band but the others are all fine and tune into anything available - The Tandbergs FM sound is nice and clear and the radio has a warm, rich sound with considerable clarity and volume. This example could be restored into a really nice unit. - There is an aux input (selected by the pushbuttons on top) which was originally intended to plug in an external source, such as a tape recorder. It would work well with the headphone output from something like an Alexa Echo Dot. (I’ll stop there before I persuade myself to keep it …) The TP41 will be carefully packaged and sent out insured.
