Tandberg Cassette Recorder Player Tape Deck TCD 340 A. This deck is in excellent working condition. The sound reproduction is unbelievably good. I have heard many high quality decks, but I was blown away by the sound quality and imaging. These are considered by many to be one of the finest cassette decks ever made. This is a three head, three motor cassette deck. The m Designation actually means that this deck can play metal cassette tapes. This was the first deck that was capable of playing metal cassettes, but the research by Tandberg that went into the building of this deck is the other part of what really sets this deck apart. Tandberg was one of the leaders in a large part of the development of higher quality recording and playback for the cassette during the 1970s and later. Dimensions are aprx 19.5 wide 9.5 deep x 4.5 high. Weight is aprx 15 lbs. These are very rare, the TCD- 340 A occasionally comes up for sale, sometimes even just for parts or repair, but Ive never seen the metal variant for sale on Ebay.
