I replaced this on my 1999 Takamine koa guitar with a CT4B2 preamp preferring the auto tune feature over pure sound quality as I rarely amplify my guitar. I have seen these Graph-Ex used preamps sell for more than new Takamine preamps because of the superior sound quality of this older unit. The preamp has been tested and works well, however I cannot offer a warranty on a used item, so I am selling as I do all my auctions “As Is” with no returns. I have included a more detailed description below:GRAPH-EX PREAMP FEATURES1. The Easy-Out Battery Compartment makeschanging the 9-volt battery simple. By releasing the latch on the top of thecompartment cover, the battery case slides out by grabbing the finger gripson either side the cover. Position the 9-volt battery in the case as indicatedby the + symbol, (on the latch side of the battery case).2. The Battery Check Switch allowsthe player to quickly test the available power of the user-installed 9-voltbattery. The BatteryCheck Indicator Light will illuminate once the BatteryCheck switch is depressed. The indicator light will glow brightly when thebattery is fully-charged or new. This light will become noticeably dimmer asthe batterys charge grows weak; thereby alerting the player that it is time tochange the battery.3. Guitar output volumeor gain is controlled by the Volumeknob. Once a players desired volume is set, this knob can beretracted into the preamp by pushing it down until it clicks. This featureprevents the player from accidentally bumping the volume controlout-of-position while playing, or losing a desired setting when moving theguitar from place to place. Each of thesesliders allow the player to increase, or decrease each frequency range (orshelf) 5 decibels, to color the sound, or to help control feedback problems.The center of each slider is the zero point, and the user will hear no changein tone at this setting. By sliding each knob towards the +5 position, thetonal range (Bass, Middle, or Treble) will beenhanced respectively. By decreasing each knob towards the -5 position, eachrange will be reduced similarly. For best sound performance, it is advised tothink subtractively when adjusting guitar tone. This means reducing thetone(s) that you do not desire first, then enhancing the tone(s) you do wantfrom there. If all sliders are positioned on the minus (-) side of the zeropoint, this will make your output signal weaker. Conversely, if all sliders arepositioned on the plus (+) side of zero, this will increase your output signal.Sliders pushed all the way to the +5 position may cause some sound distortion.Try to balance your chosen slider settings above and below the zero point.5. The Exciter is adynamic signal processor commonly used in professional recording studios.
