This is a like new pair of JBL Synthesis 1400 Array speakers.Pretty much made at the time for the Japan market, not many were sold here. I bought new from an authorized JBL dealer in Des Moines Iowa in 2019.Its a very interesting story, see an article in Stereophile JBL Synthesis Array BG Loundspeaker, by Larry Greenhill dated May 10, 2010.I bought to play with my tube system, 45 watts output, so these speakers were never driven hard at all, just jazz and classical.I searched and researched for quite a while looking for a modern set of speakers for tube audio. Do not be put off by these horns, these speakers do not at all sound horny or bright. Read the article, it pretty much says it all. The designer, now gone from earth, got patents on this design--something not easy to do in the modern world with thousands of patents on this subject.They sound every bit as good as the Stereophile review. Happy to have them. When they show up in the US they go for much more than my asking price. The MSRP on these was over $12K.Not long after, got very ill, and old age to boot, and selling all my system.These are beautiful ebony veneer and well made.
