I can show them working on a good quality amp & source but the buyer must take care of them once taken away, no warranty etc. Collect daytime only on a week or weekend day, not evenings. Plan to avoid wet days. These are one of the great speaker designs of the 1980s, esp due to their ground breaking 100dB/octave crossover. The concept is still a winner with Joseph Audio using the latest 120dB/octave version to great aclaim. An infinite slope crossover has a much steeper transistion than a typical (12/18/24db) crossover. A key benefit of this is fewer interference patterns between the drivers in the crossover region. Their clarity, resolution and stereo image is outstanding for a speaker using conventional drivers. A real champion of the soft dome tweeter! They are heavy at about 25kg each but the castors do make moving them easier on carpet. They work best in a fairly large living room but now I enjoy them in a much smaller space close to the wall. Amazes me how well they image even in near field use. Only selling them to free up space, I need to downsize to smaller speakers. They are fully working and all drivers work perfectly. Excellent full range sound quality, soundstage and imaging. Bad points, serial numbers end 286 and 289 but they do still sound like a matched pair. Each was speaker was factory tested using a FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) system so their QC was tight. One speaker cab has a small corner chip below on front RHS and small water mark on top. In parts the veneer has some signs of dryness and sun fading. Both Focal 7 mid/bass drivers have minor dents in the dust caps. Minor creases on each tweeter. I think this pair are from the late 1980s. Dynaudio tweeter, Focal mid/bass and SEAS bass drivers. Proper high end audio grade drivers. The Dynaudio D28AF has a very smooth linear response due to its advanced rear chamber damping. The Focal 7N mid/bass driver has a Neoflex cone and a huge magnet. Neoflex is like KEF Bextrene and has similar characteristics in the mid band. See the text in photos for more info on the philosophy behind these speakers. For a big immersive sound they are the finest speakers I have owned. Their sound reminds me of speakers like the KEF 104AB or KEF 105 but higher grade. By many accounts they were serious rivals to Snell, Thiele and Vandersteen. They have the clarity, the rich full tone and the immersive imaging. Chapter Preface High End (£4300/2003) Line Level Balanced XLR with Remote HiFi Preamplifier NB recently I foolishly hot plugged an XLR to TRS jack lead from this preamp into a power amp input. Doing that must have shorted the tip/ring of the jack and has probably blown the positive phase of the LCH XLR output (now sounds much weaker on that side). The RCA outputs can be used but need to use -3dB RCH and invert the left channel phase. Not ideal but the RCA output sounds OK using this trick. To get this preamp working properly again you need SMD rework tools. My bet is an OPA627AU (SMD8) on the left output has gone. Priced fairly low to reflect this setback! This is a collect in person only sale and it will suit the more technical buyer. I will ignore requests to send or box up for couriers etc. I want the buyer to see it before payment and then take away. I can show it passing audio from a source to an amp. The Preface seems like an evolution of the classic Chord CPA2200 and CPA3200 preamps. The Preface is line level only (no phono stage) but has even higher specs than those older Chord preamps. Sound quality was near the top reference standards of its day. I have owned this preamp for about five years and its been a great performer with various power amps. The display works well 99% of the time but over the years I have seen it show random pixels or pixelate. More common when room temp is low? I just power it off and back on to restore normal function. Also the remote control had a battery leak but still works. Nice chunky metal remote but weak keypad so I prefer to copy the functions to an IR learning remote. It has some faint marks on top but is still a stunning preamp to look at and use. Fully working, both sound perfect. I highly rate these super classy small speakers. I will only sell them if the price is right. I want to downsize my collection but I still enjoy them. I tend to use them as every day background speakers. Ideal for a bookshelf, desk or sideboard. They are a single driver design without crossover so the mids are seamless and perfect in the time domain. Usual single driver pros and cons. Excellent attack in the mids, brings out more real tones and timbres in that region. Like wow that sounds more alive than it did on the other speakers! Refined for a single driver design but not as refined as the best 2-way designs. They use the Dynavox LY302F driver or a custom version of it. Can be used either as small hifi speakers or near field monitors (like the classic Auratone but wider range bass/highs). HQ copper terminals, bare wire or 4mm plug. Matched serial numbers. In the rarer/later Alpine/Bugatti racing blue piano gloss finish, lovely quality. Made in Taiwan circa ten years ago by a small boutique audio brand. JohnBlue Audio Arts JB3. Daytime only, not evenings. 4x JVC Nivico GB-2E Omni Satellite Globe Pendant Speakers Retro Space Age (Surrey) These date from the early 1970s 4-channel quad era, like the GB-1E sphere speakers. They have 360 degree omni-directional coverage with six opposing drivers. The cabs are an icosahedron shape. Like the dodec speakers used by sound engineers. They can be used in full range mode or low cut mode by rewiring the plug. They need restoration. Three of them sound good but the fourth (S/N 022) sounds duller. They come with 2 mini pedestals, 3 pendant screw mounts and 3 plugs (2 good). The cabs are made from a composite plastic material, very strong and solid, no cracks. S/N 021 - all 6 drivers sound ok S/N 022 - 1 grille missing and driver dented & buzzy, 1 driver is sibilant. S/N 056 - 5 drivers sound ok, 1 driver is slightly sibilant. S/N 226 - all 6 drivers sound ok One good pair can be made from the four. Would need to find a few suitable drivers to make another good pair. The grilles and drivers are easy to remove. I inspected most of the drivers, they look perfect except for dust. The drivers are great sounding full range units, sound similar to quality modern drivers from Fostex, etc. They have an 80mm paper cone (55mm actual) with a coated metal dust cap. I bought both pairs a few years ago for about 250 euro in total. They had a list price of 550 DM a pair when new, that was mega bucks 50 years ago. They are a very cool looking space age design and also decent sounding omni speakers. Best time for collection would be daytime, not evenings. I can show them working one by one. Ekco RP329 Valve Record Player 16/33/45/78 RPM. Courier or collect from Chessington This used to be my record player when I was young. Before that it belonged yo my Mum. You used to be able to stack singles and they would play one after another, from memory? PLEASE NOTE: After being stored for ages, I can't get it to work. I'm guessing it simple to fix but I cannot say for sure what the problem could be  maybe the fuse or something bigger. I've taken the circuit of the shaft to show the workings and it is complete. I’m told that it’s simple to fix. I've left the circuit off so you can get in again easily (and I don't have the right tool). Can collection from Chessington ( J9 M25) or i can arrange a courier.
