Bob Carvers Sunfire Theater Grand Processor-TunerPre-Amplifer-AS- ISPLEASE READ CAREFULLYI am the original owner of this great piece ofAudio Equipment which was in my smoke free home as the heart of my soundsystem. Its overall physical condition is excellent. There is one tiny scratch on the top panel. Presently it functions perfectly. Now for the not so good news. Over the past year a problem developed with the Stand-By power. It would light up but when the power switch was turned on, the unit did not power up as it should. Sometimes depressing the on-off button a few times would activate the unit but eventually the stand-by power was on, but it would not power up. I decided to lift the cover and found that the plastic wire harness from the main power supply to the Circuit board was showing signs of heat. If you look in the photos, I did take a picture to show the dark spot on the harness. I removed the harness, and it broke in half. I cleaned the contact points on the pins and two of the wires needed to have crimp connectors installed on them to connect to the circuit board as part of the plastic housing was not usable. There may have been poor connection here which led to the overheating. I turned the unit back on, reinstalled in the system and it has worked flawlessly for the next 6 months and was working perfectly when I recently removed it from my system as I purchased a newer model Marantz Processor. Needless to say, I can not sell this unit at a normal price, but it is working, and some additional technical expertise may find a proper harness to reinstall. I did speak with a fellow in the US who used to work for Bob Carver and repaired these units, but he was retiring and was not taking any new units for repair. This unit comes complete with original box and packing, the LCD remote control, which is the best Remote I have ever seen, the manual and the power cord. These amplifiers deliver excellent sound across the entire frequency spectrum and are dedicated to high end sound reproduction first and foremost. Newer stuff tries to deliver on sound and video and in my opinion falls short on the audio side. The box with contents is large and quite heavy and is reflected in the shipping cost in Canada and the lower 48 US States. It will ship Canada Post Expedited to both countries. I know which shop has the Sunfire parts. He was in Oregon just moved to Washington. On Oct-28-23 at 07:23:16 PDT, seller added the following information . He wants 150.00 mailed in box towards repair. This is very clean just little masking tape residue. scratch on the bottom underneath. Beautiful blue display in error mode. MEM TST. No remote. Needs umbilical wire housing..... unclipped from Tuner circuit .??? He assured me it can be fixed. No HDMI it has components and s video.
