This unit was barely used and kept under perfect conditions, with low humidity. The switches are so clean they look brand new, like they came out of a time machine. Those switch leaves are silver coated and in normal atmosphere, are black from the silver oxide. These are CLEAN, almost as if it was stored in a nitrogen atmosphere. Yet the unit comes from ~1978-79 and its 45 years old. The plastic film volume pot alone is like a $400 item, these days... I decided to change about 12 capacitors, even though the unit worked just fine. Those capacitors pulled measured about 25% down in value. the next thing noticed... is that it was never used, as the are certain parts of the circuit board in this unit/model which turn brown from heat damage over time/use ----and the high heat areas on these boards, in this unit -- have no burn. (see photos on the web of people re-capping them and servicing them. You will quickly see what I mean.) It could still use some cleaning but Im leaving that up to the person who buys it. If you desire this unit, and it is a desirable one, with an EXCELLENT phono preamp...it is probably the best lowest hour unit you could ever find. Box is not perfect, not all the Styrofoam is there, but hey, it does come with the orignal box (and the NWT address where it was shipped to) Will be double boxed to protect the orignal Technics box from damage, of course. Shes a beauty, hate selling it.
