This model has inputs on the front for (1) set of Pro Stax Headphones (5-pin), which are the higher end of their headphones and (1) set of the Normal Stax headphones, which have 6-pin cables. I have used this unit for several Stax models, including the SR-L700Mk2 and the SR-404 Professional. The volume control knob actually controls the volume for the left and right channels separately so that the user can adjust the levels to achieve the proper balance for the left and right headphones. With careful handling and proper usage, this unit should last for years.
