DescriptionThe TD125 has taken a giant step in banishing rumble, with solid state circuitry replacing the conventional mechanical methods used for electronic speed control.This reduces the number of moving parts and total mass so frequently a rumble producing factor.Motor rotor velocity, another rumble originator, is precisely governed by a dependable Wein Bridge transistorized oscillator. Its frequency is varied exactly (by a gold plated switch) to change the speed of the motor and these adjustments may be viewed instantly on the built-in stroboscope.Motor rotor speed on the TD-125 has been reduced to an incomparable 250rpm at 33 1/3rpm turntable speed. By combining this factor with solid-state circuitry and the Wein Bridge oscillator, Thorens has reduced rumble to an infinitesimal and inaudible -48db (-68db weighted); less rumble than any other turntable on the market!The tonearm and turntable platter of the TD-125 are mounted on an independent chassis. This unit is then shock mounted to another chassis which houses the drive system and controls. As a consequence the tonearm is protected against shocks when the controls are operated and acoustic feedback is minimised because of the absence of vibrations. I am listing another rare and unobtainable cartridge. STANTON 681EEE-S MK II STEREOHEDRON CARTRIDGE & STYLUS NEW OLD STOCK, VERY RARE! THESE WERE ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FOR 4-CHANNEL QUADRAPHONIC RECORDS BUT ARE EXCEPTIONAL FOR ALL VINYL RECORDS! This is an original unmolested genuine 681EEE-S MK II, top-of-the-line audiophile stylus from STANTON. This is not a replica, It is the real deal! It is new, never used, never opened, and it has a beryllium cantilever which is and was the finest element for a light weight cantilever and beryllium was superior for transmitting electrical signals to the magnets. The Stanton 681EEE was beloved by many people. But when it was upgraded with the second generation Stereohedron stylus, I listened to it and the transformation was remarkable. On a suitable record, it was as if I was listening to a studio master-tape. The Stanton 681EEE-S has a very special stylus and this one comes complete with its original stylus mounted to a beryllium cantilever. This was their top-of-the-line model and its unlikely well see anything like it again due to the cost and dangers of working with beryllium. The Stanton 681EEE was great cartridge to begin with, but Stanton needed to create a cartridge that would compete with the SHIBATA stylus so they developed the Stereohedron stylus as this was their finest, highest channel separation, frequency response, channel balance, and output level attainable for a Quadraphonic four channel stylus. It is a magnificent sounding cart & stylus. These were so in demand that Stanton made two generations of these and this is the second and highest regarded. Back in early 2002, I found out that all cartridge makers were being told to curtail their use of beryllium so I bought many of these gems and especially the styluss from LP gear and others. I have one for my own personal use. This is only one I have left except for one mounted on my quad turntable.
