Up for sale is an excellent pair of Spendor S8e loudspeakers in the extremely rare rosenut finish. If you have a moderate size room and listen to acoustic music, youll be hard pressed to find loudspeakers at any price that sound as natural as the S8es. I have owned Harbeth SHL5s which I consider to be among the best speakers made, but the Spendors are better at a fraction of the price. I have owned this pair for over ten years, but at age 67 its time to lighten my load. I would love to own them forever, but I just dont have the space for them anymore. They are in excellent condition except for one small nick on the front of one of the speakers where it got dinged by a vacuum cleaner (see photo). I have patched the nick so its not visible unless you look closely for it. In all other respects, the speakers are functionally and cosmetically excellent. The Absolute Sound review of them says At the risk of sounding naïve and overblown, I’m going to give you my true thoughts on the Spendor S8e: Buy it. For $3000 you are, I swear it, getting as close as a whisker to $30,000 in sound. Glorious, house-filling sound. I have the original boxes, manual, and spikes. I am downsizing and selling my Spendor S8e loudspeakers. I have taken very good care of them. They are in excellent condition and come with two pairs of black cloth speaker grill covers. Speaker spikes are included. I have always used the custom made top driver cover. The grill covers have no defects.The wood is beautiful and there are no noticeable defects. The Spendor S8e is a two way bass reflex speaker. It has a 27 mm coated fabric dome tweeter and 210mm (81/4 inch) woofer. The cabinet is a beautiful light oak and constructed with a thick well braced frame. These speakers have a gorgeous mid range and treble and a throw out a huge sound stage and go down to at least a conservative 44 Hz. If you dont own a sub you will hardly miss it. Originally sold for around $2,800. The Absolute Sound review stated; You are getting as close as a whisker to $30,000 in sound. At $500.00 they are priced to sell. I cannot go any lower.
